The secluded location is reflected throughout the album. “The record definitely has a feel to it that seems parallel to the vibe of this mountain and the land,” Bruno notes. “It’s like a non-GMO record. There’s no fake shit on there, none of the vocals are tuned. It’s all real playing.”
In support of Here Come The Runts, AWOLNATION will be embarking on a headlining tour with support from Nothing But Thieves on February 11th in Toronto, and touring the States until mid-March before crossing the pond for a European/UK run throughout the month of April. Der angesehene Singer/Songwriter GRANT-LEE PHILLIPS hat für den 23. Februar sein bereits neuntes Studioalbum "Widdershins" (via Yep Roc Records) angekündigt! Mit "Totally You Gunslinger" präsentiert der in Nashville lebende Musiker auch gleich die erste Single - die sowohl an Roy Orbison erinnert, als auch an The Smiths.
GRANT-LEE PHILLIPS: "I made a commitment to myself not to sink into despair. I'm tracing a longer narrative here. We've been through some of this before - not just our country, but the civilization as a whole."
In "Widdershins" sieht er außerdem eine Verbindung zu seiner früheren Arbeit mit GRANT-LEE BUFFALO. "That was also a time of intense social anxiety", erklärt er. "The Gulf War, the LA riots - everything became crankes up. Then a few years later there was the earthquake we live through, which also made for a time of uneasiness. Marking his third solo album, singer-songwriter Glen Hansard will release Between Two Shores on January 19, 2018 via Anti-. Following up 2015's GRAMMY nominated Didn't He Ramble, and his 2012 solo debut Rhythm and Repose, the ten-track collection was produced by Hansard himself for the first time. The culmination of more than six years of writing and recording, Between Two Shores came together in only a matter of weeks. This past March, Hansard booked himself time at Black Box Studios in France with the original idea of taking inventory of his songbook. Working again with former Frames bandmate and producer David Odlum, Hansard was in search of a direction for his next record. As he trove through his previous sessions, various ideas and home recordings, a sketch of an unplanned record began to take shape. The aptly titled "Setting Forth" became the catalyst for the direction Hansard hoped to achieve with Between Two Shores. Recorded with drummer extraordinaire Brian Blade and members of his Fellowship Band the song tackles themes of self-doubt in a time when it's impossible not to be riddled with uncertainty. The album's lead track "Time Will be the Healer" is a hopeful plea to a forlorn lover that also speaks to the way forward in the current social climate. Indeed, it would be impossible not to in some way address the politics of the day, which Hansard does in "Wheels on Fire" and its refrain of "We will overcome!"
......Hansard is a founding member of The Frames who celebrated 25 years as a band in 2015. He is one half of The Swell Season, which also features pianist Marketa Irglova. Together in 2007 they wrote the music for and starred in the movie Once. The song "Falling Slowly" from the film was awarded the Academy Award for Best Original song. In 2013 the film was adapted for Broadway as Once, The Musical, winning eight Tony Awards including the top musical prize itself and an Olivier award in London for outstanding achievement in music.

Simply calling Curtis Harding a “soul man” feels reductive. Yes, his music is undoubtedly soulful and his songwriting is both evocative and provocative, but there’s more to his music than the stock imagery the label conjures. Harding’s voice conveys pain, pleasure, longing, tenderness, sadness and strength—a full gamut of emotions. Yet still, “soul man” seems too simple a description for musician like Harding, a man who has lived multiple lives as a musician, participated in different scenes, and brought all those varied sounds and experiences together to carve out his own unique niche. The culmination of his experimentation is his latest masterwork, Face Your Fear.
To understand Curtis Harding, the singer-songwriter, drummer, guitarist and producer, one must first understand his musical origins. For Harding, it all began in his birthplace, Saginaw, Michigan. It was there that his church-going mother, a singer herself, first exposed him to the sound and spirit of gospel music. He sang and played drums in church with his family, and songs like Mahalia Jackson’s stirring rendition of “Elijah Rock” left an indelible mark on him. While his mom’s gospel records praised the sacred, his big sister’s rap tapes showed him the beauty in secular music. He looked up to his big sis, an amateur rapper herself in the vein of MC Lyte, and before long young Curtis Harding was writing his own rhymes. After a nomadic childhood of moving Harding put down roots in his adopted home of Atlanta — the perfect place for an intellectually curious young man to broaden his musical horizons.

Interiors is Quicksand’s best album yet. It sounds like nothing else you are going to hear this year.
It arrives deliberately unannounced, two decades after the pioneering post-hardcore quartet’s last album. Made completely on the band’s own terms, Interiors has a power, strength and subtlety that will likely stun you. There are no wasted notes, no flab, and no excess whatsoever. It is absolutely perfect. “This struck a chord, where we felt this is actually something that could represent us now,” says bassist Sergio Vega. “It doesn’t sound like a third album a couple of decades later. It’s a piece of work that we really, really can back.” That may be an understatement: Interiors is breathtaking in its surging, sculptured sonic attack, a welcome reminder that the band’s longtime status as musical innovators is not undeserved.
To make the record, the band first had to return to the beginning—to the purity of why Quicksand started making music in the first place. In the process, they made a great record that speaks to their past—but, more essentially, to their present and future. “First we went out and made the record we wanted to make, with the person we wanted to make it with,” says drummer Alan Cage. “Then we went with a finished product and said ‘OK, who’s going to put this thing out?’ Of course we want to share it, have people listen to it, and create their own relationship with it--but at the core, it is our thing. “I think we landed in a perfect place to do that with epitaph.”

Nach “Nostalgie Für Die Zukunft” (2014) und “Weisses Rauschen” (2016) erscheint mit “III” vier Jahre nach Veröffentlichung des Debütalbums bereits der dritte ERIK COHEN-Langspieler. Auch die neue Platte wurde vollständig im DIY-Verfahren produziert und kommt wie gehabt über sein eigenes Label.
Wer die Vita des sympathischen Kielers kennt, weiß, dass er sich künstlerisch äußerst ungern wiederholt und seit jeher dazu neigt, sein Publikum mit neuen Ansätzen zu überraschen. Die ureigenen klanglichen Trademarks behält er dabei allerdings konsequent im Auge. Spielte sein letztes Album noch weitläufiger mit Wave, klassische Popanleihen und den unterschiedlichen Spielarten des Rock, stehen jetzt die geradlinigsten, treibendsten Songs des norddeutschen Originals ins Haus.
Erwartungsgemäß wird die alte Tante Rockmusik auch dieses Mal in unterschiedlichen Facetten gefeiert. Allerdings passiert dies nun in reduzierterer Form als auf den beiden Vorgänger-Alben, auf den Einsatz von Tasteninstrumenten wurde gänzlich verzichtet. Die neuen Lieder präsentieren sich in einem etwas staubigeren Soundmantel als es noch auf der eher auf klangliche Eleganz ausgelegten LP "Weisses Rauschen" der Fall war. Meint: Basslastige Wave-Anstriche stehen deutlich weniger im Fokus als zuletzt, auf "III" dominiert die Gitarre. Das wird bereits mit dem Opener "Mexikanische Lieder" deutlich und zieht sich einmal quer durch die Platte.

Along with landing on Pitchfork’s Best New Music list, All We Love We Leave Behind was called “as skull-cleaving as it is beautiful” by Consequence Of Sound.
Produced by Converge and mixed by Ballou at his renowned Godcity Studios, The Dusk In Us shows the band’s artistic evolution while still capturing their classic sound. As pioneers within the aggressive music arena, Converge formed in Massachusetts in 1990, made their debut with 1994’s Halo in a Haystack, and broke through with their landmark album Jane Doe (a 2001 release praised as “iconic” by the A.V. Club).
Converge’s frontman Jacob Bannon will curate the 2018 edition of Roadburn Festival, taking place April 19-22 in Tilburg (The Netherlands). He will curate the main stage at the 013 venue on Friday, 20 April, and Het Patronaat on Saturday, 21 April. Converge will be appearing at the festival as well, performing The Dusk In Us in its entirety on Thursday, 19 April, and You Fail Me on Friday, 20 April .

The history Mavis recalls from her early years touring with her family as The Staple Singers, the prejudice, ugliness and danger, well it’s all still here. If All I Was Was Black is Mavis' third collaboration with songwriter and producer (and Wilco frontman) Jeff Tweedy. Their first partnership in 2010, You Are Not Alone, won a Grammy Award for Best Americana album. Their second effort together, One True Vine, was a Grammy nominee. You need this band, you need this video and you need this album in your life. Swedish Death Candy are psychedelic, yes, but not many bands can boast to be able to combine that with crunching heaviness, melodic power and mind-bending dynamics. Lonely The Brave have been deliberately quiet these last few months, working on new material and reassessing what has come before. This has been all the more noticeable because before then, they had never stopped: last year alone saw them secure a no.1 on the rock chart with their second LP “Things Will Matter”, sell-out a headline tour and play main support on a hugely successful European tour with Biffy Clyro, followed with a thematically linked series of EP’s which have shown the sheer depth of strong material that was available to them around that second record.
But despite their successes, Lonely The Brave have never been like their peers, never calculated the game in quite the same way they have, never shot from the same angle. From their stage dynamics, to their influences, to covering the likes of Bjork, Pink Floyd and Antony & The Johnsons, they have always been proud of their differences and in what has staunchly set them apart from the others who have now fallen by the wayside. They followed the release of their critically acclaimed debut “The Day’s War” with an extended version including several Redux tracks that reinvented material rather than simply stripped it back and they follow this theme of insular reinvention again now on a full Redux album version of “Things Will Matter”. Melody and heart will always be at the centre of what they do, but Lonely The Brave are here to prove once again that they will always to continue to do things that other bands can’t.

Colin explains: “We laid down all kinds of takes on the songs which made the mixing interesting as we’d send it all off to Michael (Rosen – Engineer) and him and Lars (Fredericksen – Rancid) would send back tracks. You’d think something was maybe a glitch or whatever and it’d come back and we’d listen and think ‘that’s f*cking amazing’!”
GBH formed in 1978 in Birmingham, England. BUSTER SHUFFLE ready releases for new label Burning Heart Records. BUSTER SHUFFLE have announced that after signing to Burning Heart Records they are gearing up to release brand new material soon. Starting with a new single “I Don’t Trust A Word You Say” worldwide.
The Orebro based label who also just signed Guida and Booze & Glory have a great pedigree that includes introducing the world to such as The Hives, Parkway Drive, Turbonegro, Refused, The (international) Noise Conspiracy and Millencolin among many others. Since the release of 'Naked' in 2014, Buster Shuffle have signed a new two album deal with legendary label "Burning Heart Records". With the arrival of David 'Gravy' Walsh on bass Buster Shuffle have gone back to their roots of playing as a 4 piece. With the departure of Tim double bass and Carrie backing vocals this tweaked inimitable four piece are still known and loved for their storytelling, their East London roots embedded in every note and energetic live shows that leave the crowd begging for more
On November 3, FAT will release Human Movement, a split album from Direct Hit and PEARS. This 12 track scorcher features five new songs from each band, plus one cover of their counterpart’s material.
