To Watch in 2017” benannt (NPR, Paper Mag, Idolator, All Things Go,  Euphoria. Magazine etc).

I Don´t Like Being Honest“.

“ Slinky pop  that traces the missing link between Haim, The 1975 and MUNA.”-Noisey

“More honest than most pop.” -NPR

“’Four girls about to rule the world’ emblazons the homepage for The Aces. After listening to ‘Baby Who’ that declaration sounds about right.”-FADER

“Just enough pop and rock that it falls in the same vein as The 1975 and HAIM."-PAPER Mag

"Fellow ’70s and ’80s obsessives like Haim and Tegan and Sara are the obvious comparisons, but there’s a grunginess to the Utah four-piece that sets them apart.”-  Idolator

(June 9th, 2017)-  Orem, Utah four piece, The Aces, released a brand new track today entitled ‘Touch’  which made CLASH declare “The Aces could well be your new favourite band.” The song will appear on The Aces’ debut EP, I Don’t Like Being Honest which will be released globally on June 23rd, 2017.  Listen to the track here.

The quartet are made up of sisters Cristal (on lead vocals/guitar), and drummer Alisa Ramirez, completed by guitarist Katie Henderson and bassist McKenna Petty. Thanks to their family, the American-Honduran siblings were exposed to music early on: at home their mom played Earth, Wind & Fire, Michael Jackson, and Whitney Houston, meanwhile their older brother introduced them to The Misfits, The Casualties, and Hendrix.

Alisa was banging the drums from eight years old, with Cristal writing original songs from age 10, forming a tight-knit unit with McKenna (who Cristal initially met in kindergarten) around the same time. “They asked me to get a bass for Christmas so I could become the third band member,” McKenna laughs. “So I did. And then I had to figure out how to play.” Their lineup solidified a year later when McKenna met Katie in junior high. The newly formed band would now blend McKenna and Katie’s alternative tastes (they grew up on The Cure, The Beatles and Depeche Mode) with those of Alisa and Cristal to truly find their sound.

Late last year The Aces self-released their first single ‘Stuck’ which was called ‘windows down, road trip pop at its best,’ by Idolator while Nylon claimed it to have ‘all the markings of a stellar debut,’ and DIY Mag thought it had ‘every potential chart-smash pop ticked.’ Additionally, ‘Stuck’ landed them spots on‘Artists To Watch in 2017’ lists for Paper Mag, Idolator, All Things Go, and Euphoria. Magazine to name a few.

The band are currently in the studio working on their debut album. Stay tuned for more information about The Aces and I Don’t Like Being Honest.  Fans can catch The Aces performing EP tracks live at The Mercury Lounge on June 13th.

BRUTUS - "Baby Seal": Red Bull Studio Session / Festivaldates

29. Juli - Rock Im Wald - Michelau

20.-23. September - Reeperbahn Festival - Hamburg

Offizielle Pressemitteilung:

Ahead of their heavy European festival run this summer, Belgium’s BRUTUS have revealed a new  live session version of track ‘Baby Seal’, filmed and recorded live at Red Bull Studios in Paris. ‘Baby Seal’ is taken from the band’s debut album ‘Burst’, which is out now via Hassle Records.

Describing the track, Stefanie reveals ‘Baby Seal’ is “just a simple rock song, maybe the most classic song Brutus can build. Rock hard, hit harder!”; a statement that certainly shines true on this live session recording. “The lyrics came to me by accident. I was singing the word “see” and Stijn was hearing the word “seal”. Simple as that, Baby Seal”, Stefanie explains, “But. This could have been a funny anecdote, nothing more, nothing less. But it’s not”. In fact, this spawned the true creative and drive behind the song, as Stefanie goes on to reveal; “I was hit by the idea to make a real song about a Baby Seal, clubbed to death. As a vegan, I love animals a lot and if it’s up to me, this is the new anthem against animal abuse! :)”.

Hailing from Leuven, Belgium, BRUTUS create a pummelling, meteor-shower of sound. Stefanie mixes black-metal blast beats with math-rock flourishes whilst belting the most impassioned vocals, shifting from deceptively melodic to out-right larynx-punishing in the blink of an eye, whilst guitarist Stijn Vanhoegaerden takes ethereal post-rock tones to hardcore punk levels of speed and energy aside Peter Mulders’ powerful sub-frequency shift. The three collide to make a sound as monolithic and frantic as it is emotive. Trouble comes in threes. So does Brutus

Order ‘Burst’ now via all the traditional retail platforms:

Catch Brutus live across the summer, including a just-announced show at London’s The Dome in September, as main support for Black Foxxes.

COLOR FILM - "Small Town": Neues Musikvideo / Album-VÖ heute!

Today New York-based art-pop duo Color Film share the video for their new song “Small Town.” The track appears on Color Film’s upcoming debut album Living Arrangements, due out June 16 on Epitaph.

Watch the video for “Small Town”

Formed in 2012, Color Film features Richard Penzone and Daryl Palumbo (also the frontman for Glassjaw and Head Automatica). After getting together for a series of live dates six years ago, the two musicians discovered a powerful creative chemistry and ended up writing four albums’ worth of songs within a month.

“We were just trying to write as much material as possible, because it was clear that we were capturing something that doesn’t come along more than once in a lifetime,” says Penzone.

The first product of that creative explosion, Living Arrangements finds Color Film drawing from their mutual love of sonically innovative records within the worlds of post-punk, art rock, and new wave. Artistically ambitious but driven by a certain pop sensibility, the album marks a major departure for both musicians.

“We were both representing when artists we loved were coming into their own a little bit and exploring ideas in a sophisticated, sexy way,” says Palumbo of the inspiration behind Living Arrangements.

THE DRUMS - Neuer Song: "Mirror" / Neues Album "Abysmal Thoughts" am Freitag!

Early praise for “Abysmal Thoughts”:

“This is the Drums you know, and indeed, you’ll feel compelled to answer back that you love them too.” – Pitchfork

“‘Blood Under My Belt’ swings back to the band’s halcyon-sounding days, recalling the likes of the Beach Fossils and Wild Nothing via its rippling bounce and rotational hooks.” -Stereogum “Absolutely irresistible” - Billboard “‘Blood Under My Belt’ is a return to form for The Drums...Clearly, Pierce is still very capable of creating the bouncy, romantic indie pop that made people fall in love with the band in the first place.” - Buzzfeed “bouncy, lovestruck” - Consequence of Sound “Indie pop gems” – SPIN

“First single ‘Blood Under My Belt’ is quintessential Drums, instantly catchy and a nice welcome back.” - Brooklyn Vegan

The Drums’ frontman Jonny Pierce on the new song "Mirror":

“Abysmal Thoughts" is the first album where I am taking responsibility for myself. It’s the first album where I look more inward and less outward. It is an album of self exploration. Maybe the problems in my adult life come from a broken place inside of me. Maybe I can’t properly love because I don’t really know who I am. Maybe people leave me because they have no other choice. This entire album felt like intense therapy and 'Mirror' was the first session. My steady anchor through the entire recording process was my dearest friend, Ioanna Gika - she held my hand  through all of it and so I thought it fitting to ask her to sing with me on this song.

Listen to 'Mirror'

The Drums will take “Abysmal Thoughts” on the road starting in the US this July, followed by European dates in September/October. See below to find a show near you, and get your tickets HERE.

“Abysmal Thoughts” will be released on Anti- on July 16th. Watch the music video for the first single “Blood Under My Belt” HERE, listen to the second single “Heart Basel” and pre-order/stream “Abysmal Thoughts” HERE.

Across a year and three months of home recording between Los Angeles and his cabin in upstate New York—with the same guitar, synthesizer, drum machine and reverb unit he’s played since the beginning of The Drums—Pierce put together “Abysmal Thoughts.” With help from engineer Jonathan Schenke (Parquet Courts, Mannequin Pussy and more), the result is an unflinching autobiography with Pierce back in full control of the band. He’s back to not just writing all the songs by himself but playing every instrument, too, this time realizing exactly his own personal vision for the band. Not coincidentally, it’s some of the most revelatory work he’s ever done. It is a vivid self-portrait, alive with the hyperdramatic emotional potency of the Smiths, the arch literary pop moves of New Zealanders like the Verlaines and the Clean, and the riotous clatter-punk power of the UK DIY bands of 1979.

As the last album cycle for The Drums finished and his long-term relationship with his former partner dissolved, Pierce took some time away from music altogether in hopes to reconnect with himself and find future inspiration. Determined to make a change, he ended up leaving his longtime home in New York and found himself isolated in a large empty apartment in Los Angeles, all his plans for life and love suddenly in shambles. That hardship and confusion—and the clarity of personality and purpose it inspired—became “Abysmal Thoughts.”

With The Drums’ new record, band founder Jonny Pierce is making the exact album he’s always held in his heart. Of course, this is The Drums, so that heart is broken—but there’s beauty and even bliss in this kind of heartbreak. “I said I wanted to let life happen?” he says. “Well, the universe listened and life began to fuck me real good! But honestly, I make the worst art when I’m comfortable. The stuff that resonates with me the longest—and that resonates with others—is always the stuff that comes out of my misery.”

Now the highs are higher than ever, and the lows absolutely bottomless. The Drums are back, and while there’s a heavy sadness here, Pierce is stronger for fighting through it. “Happiness can be confusing to me,” says Pierce. “It shows up out of nowhere, and before you can even get used to it, it’s vanished. But “Abysmal Thoughts?” I can rely on them—and with the political chaos that is raining down, who knows when these dark feelings will subside?”

SPAIN - "Spiritual": Neuer Song vom kommenden Live-Album "Live At The Love Song" (Glitterhouse Records)

“You know, I’d like to go on tour in L.A.” dachte sich Josh Haden, seines Zeichens Bassist und Sänger von Spain, eines schönen April Morgens. Downtown namens The Love Song.

THOUSAND BELOW - "Sinking Me": Neues Musikvideo

"We're so incredibly excited to be releasing our music video for 'Sinking Me' as the second single off our album. 'Sinking Me' is the opening track of our record and we wanted to set the emotional tone for the album right out the gate with a high energy song that that lived on the 'heavier' spectrum of the record, but also carried heavy lyrical content", sagt James Deberg, Frotmann von THOUSAND BELOW.

"We feel 'Tradition' and 'Sinking Me' are great introductory songs for our band to come out the gate with and we're so excited to get the rest of the record released before the end of the year."
