CULTURE ABUSE - Neuer Song "Bee Kind To The Bugs" / "Bay Dream" am 15.06. via Epitaph / Tourdaten
Am 15. Juni werden CULTURE ABUSE das Nachfolgealbum ihres gelobten Longplayers "Peach" (2016) auf Epitaph veröffentlichen. "Bay Dream" ist in Zusammenarbeit mit Produzent Carlos de la Garza entstanden, in dessen Vita auch schon Bands wie PARAMORE, JIMMY EAT WORLD und M83 zu finden sind.
Einen Monat vor Release gewähren die San Franciscoer mit "Bee Kind To The Bugs" den zweiten Einblick ins Album. Zuvor hatten sie bereits "Calm E" vorgestellt.
Frontmann David Kelling erklärt:
“I was smoking a joint on our back porch in SF with my roommates talking about bumble bees and how much they do for our planet. The fact that they can even fly is a miracle and I was thinking about how they are all being killed off because humans are horrible. I wrote down the words ‘be kind to the bees, be kind to the bugs’.
Musically, I’ve had the chord progression for the verse since I was in high school. I’ve written multiple songs with that same progression, never showed anyone, but I’ve always loved it. One day I looked at my note pad and saw the two lines, played the chords and the words just flowed out. I had also been reading ‘Sidartha’ by Herman Hesse; the chorus is basically trying to say that material possessions don’t love you back and looks don’t matter, so take all my belongings and let me find peace.”
Zeitgleich zur Veröffentlichung von "Bay Dream" werden CULTURE ABUSE im Juni außerdem in Europa unterwegs sein und neben Clubshows auch einige der größten Festivals spielen. Auf dem Plan stehen beispielsweise die Schwesterfestivals HURRICANE und SOUTHSIDE und das VAINSTREAM ROCKFEST.

THE FAIM - Neuer Song "Summer Is A Curse" / Tour mit The Dangerous Summer
Heute erscheint die brandneue Single der australischen Pop Rock-Durchstarter von THE
FAIM . „Summer Is A Curse“ entstand in Zusammenarbeit mit 5 Seconds Of Summer-Member Ashton Irwin und schließt nahtlos an die bisherigen Tracks „Sinners Of The Sinners“ – Video und „Midland Line“-Stream an. Alle Tracks wurden von John Feldmann (Blink-182, All Time Low, Good Charlotte) produziert.
Die Band wurde bereits euphorisch von Tastemakern wie VEVO, BBC Radio 1-Moderator Dan P Carter, Upset, Rock Sound, TMRW, Alternative Press, MTV, The Box Scuzz und vielen anderen abgefeiert.
„Der Song `Summer Is A Curse` handelt vom Risiko, einen Schritt ins Ungewisse zu machen. Eine Entscheidung zu fällen, die entweder den Anfang einer neuen Zeitrechnung bedeutet, oder das Ende einer möglichen Entwicklung darstellt. Es geht um die Pfade, für die wir uns entscheiden. Um unsere Träume und die Dinge, die wir zu ihrer Verwirklichung aufgeben müssen“, so Sänger Josh Raven.
Nachdem das Pop Rock-Quartett von Down Under dieses Jahr schon mit ausgedehnten Touren mit Lower Than Atlantis in Großbritannien und Sleeping With Sirens in Australien und Neuseeland einläutete, begibt sich die Band bereits am 21. Mai wieder auf große England-Tour, auf der The Faim auch für ausgewählte Konzerte in Deutschland Station machen und zusammen mit The Dangerous Summer zu sehen sein werden.
Ebenso sind die Australier auf allen wichtigen UK-Sommerfestivals wie The Great Escape, Slam Dunk, Camden Rocks, Download, Reading und Leeds zu Gast.
Während der Aufnahmen zu ihrem Debütalbum auf BMG haben sich The Faim tatkräftige Unterstützung von Größen wie Pete Wentz (Fall Out Boy), Josh Dun (Twenty One Pilots) und Mark Hoppus (Blink-182) geholt. Weitere Infos zum Album folgen schon bald.

Die Surf-Punker THE FRIGHTS haben mit "CRUTCH" einen neuen Song auf Epitaph veröffentlicht.
Frontmann Mickey Carnevale kommentiert:
“The whole skeleton for the song, ‘CRUTCH’, came to me in the shower. I jumped out and forgot to wash my hair and started immediately writing lyrics. It’s a song about our band. About how it can simultaneously be the coolest thing in the world and the only thing I actually hate.”
Im Februar verkündete das Quartett aus San Diego ihr Signing mit dem Label und präsentierte obendrein die Single "Valentine's Sux". Ab übermorgen werden THE FRIGHTS durch Großbritannien touren und dabei sieben Konzerte spielen. Details zu einem kommenden Album möchte die Band im weiteren Verlauf des Jahres preisgeben.
Bereits ein Jahr nach ihrer Gründung 2012 veröffentlichten THE FRIGHTS ihre Debüt-EP "Dead Beach" sowie ihr selbstbetiteltes Debütalbum. Ihr zweiter Longplayer "You Are Going To Hate This" erschien 2016 und wurde von mehreren Seiten gelobt. Die kalifornische christliche Metalband IMPENDING DOOM hat mit "Everything's Fake" die zweite Single aus ihrem neuen Album "The Sin And Doom Vol.II" veröffentlicht. Das dazugehörige Video wurde von J.D. Butler/Adapt Cinema realisiert. Zuvor zeigten sie bereits das Lyric-Video zu "The Wretched And Godless".

"The Sin And Doom Vol.II" ist das inzwischen sechste Studioalbum der Band und erscheint am 22.06. über Entertainment One/SPV. Für das Cover Artwork zeichnet sich der Künstler Colin Marks (Fleshgod Apocalypse, Whitechapel) verantwortlich, mit dem die Band bereits für das 2009er Album "The Serpent Servant" zusammengearbeitet hat.
Im Laufe der Jahre haben Impending Doom eine internationale Fangemeinde gewonnen, begeisterte Kritiken geerntet und die Bühnen im Rahmen von Genre-Touren erobert wie z. THE JOY FORMIDABLE - neuer Song, neues Video & Tourdaten
WATCH THE VIDEO FOR "DANCE OF THE LOTUS"
As The Joy Formidable prepare for their sold-out show at Meltdown Festival next month, the Welsh trio are ready to share a brand new track from their forthcoming album, and announce a UK headline date at The Lexington, London.
“Dance of the Lotus” and its accompanying video will give fans their first glimpse of new material from The Joy Formidable and will provide a special preview of a record rumoured to be their most vibrant and experimental yet. Heavily inspired by the artwork of bassist Rhydian Dafydd, the animation for the video was done by the award-winning Boston production team Trllm.
“We wanted to share this album track with the people who have supported us to give them a glimpse of what we’ve been working on, and this track is right at the heart of our new record,” says lead vocalist Ritzy Bryan. “It’s magical and lonely, like a night-time walk in the desert when you’re trying to escape from yourself and the chaos you’ve created.”
Although the album came into being as the band travelled the globe and recorded in their mobile recording studio, the music intertwines the whispering hills of Wales with the otherworldly rainbow canyons of the Utah / Arizona border.
“We’ve definitely made a colourful, mystical collage with this record, partly because of our surroundings,” says Bryan. “Those multi-coloured sunsets & the primeval elements of nature in the Southwest – it’s emboldened our imaginations in the songwriting & the production.”
The Joy Formidable wrap up shows in the US and Europe, before arriving in the UK for their headline show at The Lexington, London - and are excited to have support from the talented Bryde – ahead of appearances at Reading & Leeds Festivals. Prior to this, on June 22nd, the band will perform at London’s Southbank Centre for Robert Smith’s Meltdown, the UK’s longest-running artist-curated music festival.

Am 29. Juni werden THE MILK CARTON KIDS ihr neues und erstes Album mit einer Full Band im Rücken via Anti-/Indigo veröffentlichen: "All The Things I Did And All The Things That I Didn't Do".
Nach der zehnminütigen ersten Single "One More For The Road" präsentiert das Duo nun schon den zweiten Vorab-Track.
"All The Things I Did And All The Things That I Didn't Do" entstand in Zusammenarbeit mit dem GRAMMY-ausgezeichneten Produzenten Joe Henry und ist der Nachfolger des Albums "Montgomery", welches 2015 erschien. Seitdem haben die beiden Musiker in ihrem Leben viel erlebt: Joey Ryan ist beispielsweise zum zweiten Mal Vater geworden und Kenneth Pattengale hat erfolgreich gegen den Krebs gekämpft und durchlitt das Ende einer siebenjährigen Beziehung.
Gegenüber dem Rolling Stone kommentiert Joey Ryan:
"We were slowly working toward that reconvening over the year we were off the road. The main thing was that we stopped touring because we needed a break. Then Kenneth got sick with cancer, his long-term relationship ended, and some other things happened, so it just took longer to get to a place where we were happy with the songs that we had."
Kenneth Pattengale ergänzt:
"We also reached a point where there were extracurricular factors and ambitions Joey and I had for giving the band a chance to have a bigger outlet and maybe work with some other people. Then it became clear to us that if anything was going to happen we were going to just have to take the bull by the horns."

Die in London lebende Sängerin, Songschreiberin und Multiinstrumentalistin OLIVIA CHANEY wird mit "Shelter" am 15. Juni den Nachfolger von "The Longest River" (2015) bei Nonesuch Records/Warner veröffentlichen.
Schon vor wenigen Wochen zeigte die Musikerin das Musikvideo zur Single "IOU", nun folgt der Clip zu "Roman Holiday".
OLIVIA CHANEY zur Entstehung des Albums:
"I had been on the road a lot and was struggling with the grit and loneliness of urban life. I think I'd been questioning what home, belonging, a sense of purpose, and my own culture even meant. I'd been craving wilderness and a return to essentials for a long time. Then, while touring in the US, I realized the place I needed was already in my life. It was ancient, barely habitable, and remote.
Thus a crumbling eighteenth-century cottage in the austere but magical hills of the North Yorkshire Moors—a family retreat since my teens, with no electricity or plumbing, where the only water comes from a spring—became the home for my work on Shelter," she continues. "We brought out an Arts and Crafts Bechstein piano and an old wood burner to the house; and as summer's end turned to autumn's shorter, colder days, the room with the upright and stove fueled my stay."
"Shelter" wurde von Thomas Bartlett (The National, Sufjan Stevens, Father John Misty, ...) produziert und enthält neben acht Originalen außerdem CHANEYs Interpretation von Purcells "O Solitude" und Frank Harfords und Tex Ritters "Long Time Gone".

"His close affiliation with such a varied and acclaimed group of artists was of enormous importance. His taste and sphere of understanding were as diverse as mine. SAVE FACE - "Heartache"-Musikvideo / Debütalbum "Merci" am 13.07. bei Epitaph/Indigo

New Jersey-based rock band Save Face have announced a July 13th release date for their full-length debut, Merci. The album is the band’s first release for Epitaph.
Save Face have also shared their video for “Heartache,” a track featured on Merci. With its artful use of color and perspective, the video is shot from the bleary point-of-view of its protagonist, an element both beautiful and unsettling in effect.

With its catchy-yet-off-kilter and viscerally charged sound, Merci is a concept album about an addict dealing with post-rehab relationship struggles and an eventual paranoia-fueled meltdown. Partly inspired by the theatricality of such bands as Queen, Merci is driven by a dramatic tension that reflects Save Face’s mission of making emotionally complex, multi-faceted art.
“I think the biggest challenge is writing something that has merit in an artistic context while still being palatable and digestible for an average listener,” notes vocalist/guitarist Tyler Povanda, whose bandmates include guitarist Phil McGarry, bassist Chris Aveta, and drummer Chris Flannery. “I want someone to put these songs on while they’re having a great day the same way they can listen to it while going through a crisis.”
Formed in 2012, Save Face released their debut EP Folly in 2016. Last November, the band delivered Folly: On The Rocks—a stripped-down, partly acoustic, more intimate rendition of that EP. With their remarkable work ethic, Save Face have played hundreds of shows per year, spending an impressive nine months on the road in 2017 (including a run with their labelmates The Menzingers).

THE SIDEKICKS haben mit "Weed Tent" einen neuen Song mitsamt Musikvideo veröffentlicht. Der Track ist Teil des neuen Albums "Happiness Hours", welches heute via Epitaph/Indigo erscheint.
"Happiness Hours" ist inzwischen das fünfte Studioalbum der SIDEKICKS und in Zusammenarbeit mit John Agnello entstanden, der in der Vergangenheit bereits bei SONIC YOUTH, DINOSAUR JR. und KURT VILE involviert war.
THE SIDEKICKS haben sich 2006 in Cleveland gegründet, wobei sich die Band aus den beiden Sängern und Gitarristen Steve Ciolek und Toby Reif sowie Schlagzeuger Matt Climer und Bassist Ryan Starinsky zusammensetzt. 2007 erschien ihr Debüt "So Long, Soggy Dog".
