ADULT MOM – Neu auf Epitaph
Das US-Independant-Label Epitaph gibt mit ADULT MOM ein brandneues Signing bekannt.
ADULT MOM startete als Solo-Projekt der Künstlerin Stevie Knipe. Seit der Gründung im Jahr 2012 erhält Knipe auch gelegentlich musikalische Unterstützung durch ihre Freunde Olivia Battell und Allegra Eidinger. Die Amerikanerin blickt auf fünf EPs sowie auf die zwei Longplayer "Momentary Lapse of Happily" (2015) und "Soft Spots" (2017) zurück.
Anfang des Jahres erschien mit "Berlin" die aktuelle Single, die Knipes besonderes Gespür für intime Indie-Pop-Songs betont. Die Musikerin kommentiert:
"It’s about processing the loss of an important friendship without knowing the exact cause of the loss. Through loss, there are moments recalled, like meeting for the first time, the moment you got close with that person, singing 'hole' in dorm rooms, drinking beer in a bathroom, and of course, the complete paralyzation that comes with loss. It’s about being in between healed and not, and trying my best to calculate the reasons why she left."

BAD RELIGION – 40-jähriges Band-Jubiläum mit der vierteiligen Livestream Reihe "DECADES"
Die Punkrock-Ikonen BAD RELIGION feiern ihr 40-jähriges Bandjubiläum, unter dem Titel "Decades“, mit einem vierteiligen im The Roxy Theatre (Hollywood) aufgenommenen Live-Event.
Den Start machen am 12.12.20 um 23.00 Uhr die 80er Jahre via NOCAP, mit Songs aus den Alben "How Could Hell Be Any Worse", "Suffer" und "No Control".
Neben einer Live-Performance, wird die Band Anekdoten aus dem jeweiligen Jahrzehnt zum Besten geben.
Greg Graffin, Sänger der Band, kommentiert:
“I can speak for the whole band when I say that we were so disappointed to not be able to tour this year. It is our fans and all those concerts we play each year that provide the life-force of Bad Religion. 'Decades' allows new fans as well as those who were there at the beginning to get a rich overview of our entire career and witness the changes in songwriting and performance styles at each stage of our evolution.“

19.12.2020 - The '90s: Bad Religion performs songs from 'Against The Grain', 'Generator', 'Recipe For Hate', 'Stranger Than Fiction', 'The Gray Race', and 'No Substance'. This decade cemented their position as one of the most influential and prolific bands of our time, but it didn't come easy or without cost; the band discusses the growing pains and lessons learned.
26.12.2020 - The '00s: Bad Religion performs songs from 'The New America', 'The Process of Belief', 'The Empire Strikes First', and 'New Maps of Hell'. Returning home and charging forward into a new millennium, Bad Religion continued to awe with their prowess, releasing some of their most beloved material to date.
02.01.2021 - The '10s: Bad Religion performs songs from 'The Dissent of Man', 'True North', and 'Age Of Unreason'. The Covid-19 pandemic cut short their plans to tour in support of 'The Age Of Unreason' and are now performing material never seen live before. The band discusses the gratitude they live with every day looking back on 40 years of being Bad Religion and the legacy they are still actively creating.

BUSTER SHUFFLE – Live-Session zu "At The Bank" / 10-Years-Anniversary-Reissue des Debütalbums "Our Night Out" am 18.12.
Die Londoner Ska-Punks BUSTER SHUFFLE halten auch diese Woche ihr Versprechen und präsentieren ein weiteres Session-Video. Der sehenswerte Clip zu "At The Bank" ist hier verfügbar:
Zuvor erschienen bereits Sessions zu “Get My Coat“, "You’re Alright" und "Our Night Out" . Die Songs entstammen dem gleichnamigen Debütalbum, das erstmals vor 10 Jahren erschien. Am 18. Dezember erscheint ein exklusives Anniversary-Reissue des Albums auf dem bandeigenen Label Do Nothing Records. Neben den neu gemasterten Original-Versionen enthält das Release auch zwei brandneue Bonus-Tracks!
Sänger Jet Baker kommentiert die anstehende Veröffentlichung folgendermaßen:
"We always wanted to do something for ONO’s 10th birthday, we just never imagined we would be in lockdown, not able to play shows and have a party together. We decided this would be a great way to celebrate its birthday with our fans so we are re-releasing the record on our own label Do Nothing Records."
"Our Night Out" wird neben einer schwarzen auch in drei exklusiven, farbigen Vinyl-Versionen vorliegen, die HIER vorbestellt werden können.
Im Mai nutzen die Briten den Lockdown, um eine Charity-7" aufzunehmen. Dabei erhielten sie Unterstützung einiger Freunde, darunter Mitglieder der Toten Hosen, Donots, Flogging Molly, Hepcat, Mad Caddies, The Toy Dolls, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Talco, The Infadels und die UK Queen of Ska Rhoda Dakar. Der erste Song über den "Unsung Hero" Iqbal Masih mit dem Titel "You Spoke Louder Every Day" ist HIER als offizielles Video mit den oben genannten Gästen zu sehen.Die Gewinne von 3000 Pfund aus dem Verkauf von Vinyl/MP3 gingen an die Weltgesundheitsorganisation.
Das letzte Studioalbum erblickte 2017 das Licht der Welt, trug den Titel "I’ll Take What I Want" und wurde auf Burning Heart Records veröffentlicht. Im Februar 2020 war man Support für THE INTERRUPTERS auf deren UK-Headline-Tour.

DANCE GAVIN DANCE – kündigen Streaming-Event Tree City Sessions Volume 2 für 19.12. an
DANCE GAVIN DANCE kündigen mit den Tree City Sessions Volume 2 ein Streaming-Event der besonderen Art an. So wird das Konzert am 19. Dezember in Kooperation mit Danny Wimmer Presents live von der Sacramento Tower Bridge übertragen, wofür eigens der Verkehr in der Heimatstadt des Quintetts umgeleitet wird. Die Setlist der Band wird von den Fans bestimmt, den offiziellen Trailer gibt es hier:

FLAWES – Neuer Song + Video "What’s A Boy To Do" / EP "Reviere" am 26. Februar auf Red Bull Records
Die UK-Durchstarter FLAWES kündigten kürzlich für den 26. Februar ihre neue EP "Reviere" via Red Bull Records an. Der Track "Holding Out For The Win" markierte auch den ersten Vorboten, mit dem die Band gleich einen Weltrekord aufstellte. So spielte das Trio den Song 60-mal (!) in einer zwölfstündigen Streaming-Session - ohne dass Frontmann JC Carruthers dabei seine Stimme verlor.
Mit "What’s A Boy To Do" legen die Briten nun eine weitere Hörprobe samt Video vor. Der Clip bezieht sich thematisch auf das Video zu "Holding Out For The Win" und ist hier verfügbar:

Für die Produktion der insgesamt sechs Titel zeigt sich Toby Scott verantwortlich, der schon mit GORGON CITY und den PET SHOP BOYS arbeitete.
Die Band erfüllte sich Anfang des Jahres mit der Veröffentlichung des Debütalbums "Highlights" einen lebenslangen Traum. Die aktuellen Ereignisse durchkreuzten allerdings die weiteren Pläne, wovon man sich nicht unterkriegen lässt und weiterhin das Positive im Blick behält.

Nach dem digitalen Release des Überraschungsalbum "Shore“ (Anti- Records) kündigen FLEET FOXES nun ein exklusives Live-Stream Event an.
Am 22.12 (um 03.00 Uhr unserer Zeit, der Stream bleibt bis zum 24.12. online), wird Frontmann Robin Pecknold eine Solo-Akustik Show in der St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church in Brooklyn, NY spielen. Als musikalische Gäste dabei: The Resistance Revival Chorus (RRC).

Gary V präsentiert uns seine neue und finale Single des Jahres: “Nostalgia“ auf Anti- Records. Das Musikvideo dazu, wurde durch die Quarantäne zu Gary’s persönlichem Do-It-Youself-Projekt:
Gary V kommentiert das Video und den Song wie folgt.
“The video was an entirely solo endeavor, shot on my phone at my studio. I’ve been running a virtual bar/venue named after my studio, @garyz_place throughout the quarantine and I thought it was about time Gary performed at Gary’z Place. Nostalgia” is the latest in a series of ten consecutive singles since my sophomore record Mamba. I saw these singles as an ‘album in slow motion’ with “Nostalgia” being the closer to that album. I'm incredibly proud of these songs and felt like the process gave me room to experiment and develop as a songwriter, producer and engineer. I look forward to taking what I've learned and going even deeper into discovering new sounds and songs in 2021…”

HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD – Neues Album "New Empire, Vol. 2" ab heute erhältlich / Streaming-Event am 18.12.
Heute erscheint endlich das neue HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD-Album "New Empire, Vol. 2" via BMG/Dove & Grenade!
"New Empire, Vol. 2" wurde von Matt Good (Asking Alexandria, Sleeping With Sirens) produziert und enthält Tracks wie den Genre-übergreifenden Hit "Idol" feat. LIDO PIMIENTA – "Miss Colombia" für die Grammys nominiert / Dokumentation / Charity-Livestream-Event
Das in diesem Jahr erschienene LIDO PIMIENTA-Album "Miss Colombia“ (ANTI- Records) ist für den Grammy in der Kategorie "Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album“ nominiert. Die Grammy-Verleihung findet am 31.01.21 statt.
Passend zu dieser sensationellen Nachricht steht eine sehenswerte Dokumentation mit dem Titel "The Road To Miss Colombia“ online. Diese beschreibt den Weg zu dem bisher erfolgreichsten Release der in Kanada lebenden kolumbianischen Sängerin:

"This doc is the culmination of six years of work. I knew Miss Colombia was going to be an important body of work for me, and reveal a lot about my life, but what I didn’t quite know back then was the HOW. Everyone that took part in the process can know that we honored Miss Colombia, and now I can move on and kiss it goodnight!”
Zusätzlich veranstaltet LIDO PIMIENTA am 15.12.2020 um 22 Uhr ein Charity-Livestream-Event auf ihrem YouTube-Kanal. Die Spenden gehen direkt an das Texas Civil Rights Project.
Das Album trifft durch die Mischung aus Electro Cumbica und Pop den Reiz der Zeit. Gleichzeitig schafft es aber auch, den Hörer auf ernstere Themen aufmerksam zu machen. NPR beschreibt das Album als "eine Homage an ein Land und eine Kultur, die bis heute Schwierigkeiten hat schwarze und einheimische Frauen zu unterstützen." Mit Bomba Estéreo’s Li Saumet und Rafael Cassiani bekommt das Album eine spürbare Tiefgründigkeit, die den Hörer auf das Leben und die Geschichte der Afroamerikaner hinweisen soll.
Seit der Veröffentlichung im April 2020 wird das Album von den größten Magazinen gelobt: Eine 8.0 Review von Pitchfork, 4 von 5 Sternen vom Rolling Stone und von Billboard als eines der besten Alben des Jahres bezeichnet.

ESTHER ROSE – Video zu “Keeps Me Running“ / Neu bei Full Time Hobby
Das von uns betreute Label FULL TIME HOBBY, bekannt für seine hochqualitativen Veröffentlichungen (u.a. Tunng, Aidan Knight, The Besnared Lakes), zeigt einmal mehr seine Vielseitigkeit und vermeldet mit der US Künstlerin ESTHER ROSE ein neues Signing, dass dem Labelbild neue musikalische Facetten hinzufügt.
Durch Support Touren für u.a. Nick Lowe, ihre Zusammenarbeit mit Jack White und ihre beiden von der Presse jeweils hochgelobten Alben ist ESTHER ROSE bereits einem breiteren Publikum bekannt. Ihr Sound spannt lockere und stets melodiös - tanzbare Bögen von Indie Pop zu Alt Country.

MORGAN ROSE (SEVENDUST) – teilt Video zu "Exhale" / Debüt-EP "Controlled Chaos" ab sofort auf Rise Records
SEVENDUST-Drummer MORGAN ROSE veröffentlichte erst letzten Freitag sein Solo-Debüt "Controlled Chaos" via Rise Records. Nun präsentiert er einen Videoclip zu dem Song "Exhale":
Zuvor teilte der Musiker bereits ein Lyric-Video zu dem Track "The Answer".
Gemeinsam mit SEVENDUST-Kollege CLINT LOWERY (Gitarre) und Jason Christopher, der hauptsächlich als Bassist von COREY TAYLOR und PRONG bekannt ist, nahm der Amerikaner die Songs der EP in weniger als zehn Tagen in Kalifornien auf. "Controlled Chaos" dokumentiert den musikalischen Fortschritt ROSEs in vielfacher Hinsicht und setzt sich musikalisch vom Hauptprojekt des Musikers ab, bei dem er seit dessen Gründung vor 25 Jahren hinter dem Schlagzeug sitzt. Im Rahmen seiner Karriere wurde ROSE bereits mehrfach für sein Drumming ausgezeichnet.

SPIRITBOX – Neue Single + Video "Constance"
Die Progressive-Metal-Band SPIRITBOX gab kürzlich die Zusammenarbeit mit Rise Records bekannt und präsentierte mit "Holy Roller" eine erste Single auf dem neuen Label. Mit "Constance" liegt ab sofort ein weiterer Song vor, der die enormen Qualitäten des Trios unterstreicht. Das dazugehörige, bewegende Video gibt es hier:
Sängerin Courtney LaPlante kommentiert die emotionalen Hintergründe:
“When ‘Holy Roller’ took off, we knew that we wanted to use the follow up single as a statement to show that we are not just going to put out the same thing over and over. We wrote the music for this song at the same time as ‘Blessed Be’ and ‘Rule Of Nines’, but I hadn’t ever committed to lyrics. I came to our director Dylan with a proposition: Let’s create the music video and the lyrical content of the song at the same time. We both felt compelled for the song and story to reflect the sorrow we both feel about our grandmothers passing away recently. Due to border shut downs, I was not able to say goodbye to my grandmother Phyllis, to whom the song is in tribute, or attend her funeral. I always promised her that I would sing at her memorial service, because she always requested a “pretty song with none of that scary screaming”. I hoped writing this song with no “scary screaming” in it would help me find a sense of closure. Dylan wrote his video concept to honour his grandmother, Constance to whom the video is in tribute. Our music videos usually have a horror element to them, and we wanted to explore a different side of horror: the horror of feeling like your mind is betraying you, due to a long battle with dementia. With Dylan’s permission, we named the song ‘Constance’ to immortalize her story.”
Die Band, die neben LaPlante aus ihrem Ehemann Michael Stringer (Gitarrist) sowie Bassist Bill Crook besteht, erzielte im Jahr 2017 mit dem Release ihrer Debüt-EP erste größere Aufmerksamkeit, die auch in den folgenden Jahren nicht abnehmen sollte. So platzierte sich die im Sommer veröffentlichte Single "Holy Roller" auf Rang 25 der Hot Hard Rock Songs der Billboard Charts und stand sieben Wochen an der Spitze von SiriusXM Liquid Metals "Devil’s Dozen". Neben der Original-Version erschien außerdem ein Remix mit einem Feature des CRYSTAL LAKE-Sängers Ryo Kinoshita. In ihrer noch jungen Karriere generierte die Band schon über unglaubliche 24 Millionen Streams auf allen Plattformen. Für 2021 planen die Kanadier, an einem neuen Studioalbum zu arbeiten.

M. WARD – Neuer Song “All The Way” / Billie Holiday-Coveralbum am 11.12. auf ANTI-
Der Singer/Songwriter M. WARD wird am 11. Dezember das Album “Think Of Spring“ zu Ehren der Jazz-Sängerin Billie Holiday via ANTI- veröffentlichen.
Um die Wartezeit zu verkürzen, liegt nun mit “All The Way“ ein weiterer Song bereit:
Zu seiner Inspiration erzählt der Musiker folgendes:
“I first heard [Billie’s album] 'Lady In Satin' in a mega-shopping mall somewhere in San Francisco. I was about 20 years old and didn’t know much about Billie’s records or her life or how her voice changed over the years. Anyway, the sound was coming from the other side of the mall and I remember mistaking her voice for a beautiful perfectly distorted electric guitar - some other-world thing floating there on this strange mournful ocean of strings and I was hooked for life.”
