THE ACACIA STRAIN – veröffentlichen überraschend neue 7” auf Rise Records
THE ACACIA STRAIN präsentieren überraschend eine neue 7" mit dem simplen Titel "D" via Rise Records. Das Release enthält die beiden brandneuen Tracks "Feed A Pigeon, Breed A Rat" und "Seeing God". Auf letzterem ist Aaron Heard von JESUS PIECE und NOTHING mit einem Feature vertreten. Beide Songs können hier gestreamt werden:

"I've been meaning to get Aaron on a track for a while now, and his part in this song is perfect. This song is the beginning of our slow descent into madness. We all see our own god eventually."

Die JUNO-Award-Gewinnerin ROSE COUSINS präsentiert ein Musikvideo zu dem Song "The Lullaby (My Oldest Love)".

Der Track entstammt dem Album "Bravado", das vergangenen Freitag auf Outside Music erschien. Thematisch spricht die Singer-Songwriterin auf der einen Seite diejenigen an, die unter Einsamkeit leiden, aber auf der anderen Seite auch die, die den Wunsch nach mehr Ruhe hegen.
COUSINS letztes Projekt "Natural Conclusion" wurde 2018 für einen Grammy nominiert. Ihre Songs wurden bereits in namhaften TV-Serien wie "Grey’s Anatomy" und "Supergirl" eingesetzt.

DIE ARBEIT – Debüt “Material” physisch erhältlich / Tourdaten
Das Debütalbum der Dresdener Post-Band DIE ARBEIT ist seit heute physisch via UNDRESSED Records erhältlich und kann HIER bestellt werden.
Die erst Anfang 2018 gegründete Band erschafft mit reduzierten Gitarren, Beats auf den Punkt und deutschsprachiger Poesie eine erfreuliche Monotonie á la Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft oder Joy Divison. Gefertigt wie in einer Werkstatt, installiert das Quartett seine eigene Gesellschaftskritik inmitten eines kapitalistischen Trümmerhaufens. THE DREAM SYNDICATE – Neues Album “The Universe Inside” am 10.04. auf ANTI- / Erste Single + Videoclip “The Regulator”
Die Indie-Rocker THE DREAM SYNDICATE kündigen ihr neues Album "The Universe Inside" für den 10. April auf ANTI- an. Mit "The Regulator" liegt gleich eine erste Single vor samt Video, das den Betrachter mit auf eine psychedelische, zwanzigminütige Reise durch New York nimmt:
“'The Regulator' is a microcosm of the entire record,” erklärt Frontmann Steve Wynn. “It was just a formless, trippy mass as we all started playing together. There was an early 70’s drum machine—a Maestro Rhythm King, the same model used on 'There’s A Riot Goin’ On' —with Dennis locking in and setting the pace. Stephen grabbed an electric sitar because it was the first thing he saw. Jason and I were kicking pedals on like lab monkeys in a laboratory and Mark was a lightning rod, uniting all of those elements into one tough groove. I collected a list of random, unconnected lyric ideas that I kept on my phone. I tried them all out in random order in my home studio just to see how they would feel and that one-take test run is the vocal you hear!. There’s just so much lightning-in-a-jar, first take excitement on this record.”

HALF WAIF – Neue Single “Halogen 2” / ANTI-Debüt am 27.03.
HALF WAIF, bürgerlich Nandi Rose, präsentiert mit “Halogen 2“ einen weiteren Vorboten aus ihrem ANTI-Debüt "The Caretaker", das am 27. März erscheinen wird. Passend dazu teilt die Sängerin ein Musikvideo:
Rose sagt folgendes zu dem neuen Track:
"Recognizing your own ordinariness can be depressing, or it can be a relief. In Ordinary Talk, I wanted to honor and celebrate my ordinariness as an incredible tool for making me feel less alone. The song is a reassurance that feeling bad - or 'ill' - isn't something that needs to be corrected. There's a depth of experience that comes from feeling emotions at their extremes. And it is, in fact, this vivid, varied messiness that makes us human and ordinary. The corresponding video, written in collaboration with director Kenna Hynes, tracks the progression from isolation to communion as we move from a tableau of a troupe of strange courtiers to the neon lights of a good old house party. And as the song shifts and melts away, the cast of characters follows and looks outward: up toward the vast night with its unsettling drift of stars, over a vista of coffee cups and blue TV screens and folded t-shirts - the million tiny moments that define our days."
Zuvor teilte die Künstlerin mit "Ordinary Talk" die Lead-Single des Albums.
"The Caretaker" folgt auf das hochgelobte "Lavender". Während sich "Lavender" noch mit neuen Ansichten über Leben und Tod, über Apokalypsen, Terror und Tragödien befasste, fokussiert "The Caretaker" das Innenleben der Musikerin und setzt sich zudem mit dem Wunsch nach Unabhängigkeit auseinander.

Der Singer-Songwriter MATT HOLUBOWSKI teilt ein neues Musikvideo zu dem Track “mellifluousflowers“:

Der Künstler kommentiert:
“Life is so beautiful. But life is also really hard, sometimes. Both happiness and despair are an inherent part of the human condition - they ebb and flow in and out of our lives, and there isn't much we can do to prevent that from happening.
mellifluousflowers was for me the starting point of this record, at a time when I was feeling pretty much as low as I ever have. The last tour had ended, and I was left feeling burned out, lost, alone, and unsure how to begin the next chapter of my life. It was such a mindfuck, because I had just had the most amazing couple of years, and yet I still felt like shit.
At that time, I was drawn to Krakow, in Poland, because I thought that a country that has faced such adversity throughout its history could surely teach me a thing or two about courage and resilience. Sure enough, after spending two months there, I felt alive, happy, and energetic again. Today, I’m as happy as I’ve ever been.
I guess what I meant to convey with this song and video is that even in your darkest moments, however dark they may be, you can be sure that happiness is just around the corner, and you will meet it again, like an old friend. You just have to hold on until then.

Der Song entspringt dem Album “Weird Ones“, das letzten Freitag via Motor erschien.
Trotz seines jungen Alters blickt der Musiker auf eine ereignisreiche Karriere zurück. So erreichte der Vorgänger "Solitudes" mit mehr als 40.000 verkauften Einheiten Gold-Status in Kanada. Zahlreiche Konzert- und Festivalauftritte ermöglichten es, eine stetig wachsende Fan-Basis aufzubauen.
Anfang 2019, nach mehr als 200 absolvierten Shows, zog sich HOLUBOWSKI in die idyllischen Wälder Banffs zurück und stellte die Produktion zu seinem neuen Album fertig. Sein zurückgezogenes Dasein unterbrach er im Juli 2019 einmalig, um die Abschlussveranstaltung des Montreal International Jazz Festivals zu präsentieren.

“This video was created by my other brother Todd Neilson of Valiant Creative Agency. You would never know the chaos behind the scenes! It is one shot and begins with Jay and I singing at the other end of the studio. As the camera pulls out, it reveals we are on the television set in the darkness of a living room where a family has gathered to watch before bed. However, the camera dolly had to roll straight through the living room and the entire thing had to be assembled within seconds in its wake.“

THE NO ONES – Neuer Song “Straight Into The Bridge” / Debütalbum am 27.03. auf Yep Roc
THE NO ONES präsentieren mit “Straight Into The Bridge“ einen neuen Song samt Video:

Bereits zuvor teilte die Band den Track "No One Falls Alone". Beide Songs entstammen dem Debütalbum "The Great Lost No Ones", das am 27. März auf Yep Roc erscheinen wird.
Die Gruppe besteht aus den Mitgliedern Scott McCaughey, Frode Strrømstad, Peter Buck und Arne Kjeisrud Mathisen, die verteilt in Norwegen und den USA leben und auf Karrieren mit R.E.M., I WAS A KING, THE MINUS 5 und THE BASEBALL PROJECT zurückblicken.
"The Great Lost No Ones Album" beinhaltet 13 Songs, die eine ganze Bandbreite von Themen umfassen. Darunter u.a. Mysterien des Alls, Entführungen, Hexerei, Klimawandel und den Strukturwandel. Diese dystopisch anmutenden Themen werden musikalisch mit Harmonien und psychedelischen Sounds der 60er Jahre kombiniert.
Das Album wurde im Juni 2017 mit Adam Selzer in Portland aufgenommen. Es enthält zudem Features von Patterson Hood (“Straight Into The Bridge” und “Sweet Home Mississippi”), Darren Hanlon (“All You Need Is Rain,” “Too Blind To Believe, “Turn Again”), Andrew Reiger and Davey Wrathgabar (“Dream Something Else”), Lucy Parnell (“Sun Station Vadsø”), und Debbi Peterson (“Gone”).

CHUCK PROPHET – Neues Studioalbum “The Land That Time Forgot” / Single “Marathon” + Video online
CHUCK PROPHET kündigt für den 15. Mai ein neues Studioalbum an. Dieses trägt den Namen "The Land That Time Forgot" und wird auf Yep Roc erscheinen. Die Songs des Albums entstanden in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Dichter klipschutz. Gemeinsam erinnern sie sich an die heimische Bay Area, die für die Künstler zeitlosen Rock’n’Roll repräsentiert, da sie gleichzeitig für Hoffnung und Verzweiflung steht.
Mit "Marathon" liegt zudem ein brandneuer Vorbote vor. Passend dazu zeigt PROPHET ein Musikvideo, das auf die Unterhaltungsszene der Great Depression in den 1920er Jahren anspielt:
"There's twisted psychology to the Depression-era dance marathons," so PROPHET. "And like Wrestling or the Kardashians, it's all rigged. But we don't want to believe it. The Marathons blurred the line between theatre and reality."
Der Amerikaner zeigte mit dem Song "Get Off The Stage" bereits seine Affinität zu politisch-sozialen Themen. Der Track setzt sich thematisch mit Protest-Songs der 60er Jahre auseinander.

THE SUICIDE MACHINES – Neuer Song “Anarchist Wedding” / Erstes Album nach 15 Jahren am 27.03. via Fat Wreck
Die Punk-Institution THE SUICIDE MACHINES meldete sich kürzlich nach 15 Jahren zurück! Mit "Awkward Always" gab die Band außerdem eine erste Kostprobe aus dem Album “Revolution Spring“, das am 27. März auf Fat Wreck erscheinen wird.
Nun präsentiert das Quartett den Song “Anarchist Wedding“, der erneut den zeitlosen musikalischen Ansatz und die Energie untermauert, die THE SUICIDE MACHINES auszeichnet:
2006 lösten sich THE SUICIDE MACHINES nach mehr als 15 Jahren Bandgeschichte und sechs Alben auf. "Revolution Spring" ist somit das erste neue Material der Band seit 2005. Sänger Jason Navarro erklärt, wie es zur Wiedervereinigung kam:
“Everyone just kind of got inspired. That’s all. I think we were watching all these other bands ride a wave of nostalgia and we didn’t want to be lumped into that, so we started writing a couple of songs and it went from there.”
Die Aufnahmen des neuen Albums fanden in nur zwölf Tagen mit LESS THAN JAKEs Roger Lima, der die Produktion leitete, statt. Entstanden sind 30 Songs, von denen es ganze 16 auf "Revolution Spring" schafften.
Im Mai spielt die Band außerdem auf dem SBÄM Fest:

THICK – Neuer Track + Video “Mansplain” / Debütalbum “5 Years Behind” ab nächster Woche auf Epitaph
THICK werden ihr Debütalbum "5 Years Behind" nächsten Freitag auf Epitaph veröffentlichen. Passend dazu teilt das Trio nun einen neuen Track und Video:
Mit dem neuen Song prangern THICK die Missstände der patriarchalischen an. Aber auch die weiteren Tracks widmen sich sozialen Missständen.
Bei der Produktion von "5 Years Behind" erhielten THICK, die aus der DIY-Szene Brooklyns stammen, Unterstützung von Joel Hamilton (Iggy Pop, Jolie Holland, etc.).
