A GLOBAL MESS – Crowdfunding-Kampagne zum kommenden Dokumentarfilm/ Buch / Vinyl Sampler
Letztes Jahr sind die Journalistin Diana Ringelsiep und der Musikmanager Felix Bundschuh quer durch den südostasiatischen Underground gereist, um der Frage nachzugehen, welches Lebensgefühl die AnhängerInnen verschiedener Subkulturen weltweit miteinander verbindet. Seit ihrer Rückkehr arbeiten sie an einem Buch, einem Dokumentarfilm und einem Vinyl-Sampler.
Auf Startnext starten sie heute mit einer Crowdfunding-Kampagne, um die laufenden Kosten während der Postproduktionsphase zu decken und die Produktion von Buch und Film zu stemmen.

Das belgische Post-Rock/Shoegaze Trio BRUTUS um Stefanie Mannaerts (Drummerin und Sängerin) verkündet mit "Nest“ für den 29.03. ein von neues Studioalbum auf Hassle Records.
Aufgenommen wurden die von Jesse Gander (Japandroids, White Lung, Baptists) produzierten 11 Songs in Vancouver / Kanada, im Rahmen der Produktion entstand das Live-Session-Video des neuen Songs "War“.
Mit dem Debüt "Burst“ starteten BRUTUS vor 2 Jahren durch, spielten u.a. zusammen mit THRICE, CHELSEA WOLFE, RUSSIAN CIRCLES und auch Lars Ulrich /Metallica und Simon Neil /Biffy Clyro verzeichnen sich als Fans. Die neuen Songs werden nach VÖ auch erstmals in Deutschland Live präsentiert:

Epic Belgian 3 piece BRUTUS can today announce details of their hugely anticipated forthcoming 2nd album 'Nest', set for release on March 29th through Hassle Records in Europe and through Sargent House in the ROTW. The record release is preceded by the first single/video 'War' which was shot on the last day of the recordings at Nest in Rain City Recorders, Vancouver Canada, is out now and you can watch the video – HERE
To describe the last two years as a whirlwind for BRUTUS is something of an understatement. Having signed to Hassle Records, 2017 saw the release of their debut album, Burst, which set them on a path of award nominations and ‘album of the year’ accolades, as well as picking up huge fans from Lars Ulrich of Metallica to Simon Neil of Biffy Clyro. In the last 12 or so months, they have toured with Sargent House label mates Chelsea Wolfe and Russian Circles, BRUTUS also hit the road as main support to Thrice through Europe. Taking time out from the live circuit, the trio headed to Vancouver to record their second album, once again returning to Jesse Gander (Japandroids, White Lung, Baptists) at his Rain City Recorders studio in September 2018. The resulting 11 tracks form BRUTUS’s new album, 'Nest'.
By their own admission, the formative sound of the band was shaped by their physical limitations; drummer Stefanie Mannaerts adopted vocal duties initially out of necessity. Having fully embraced her role as both vocalist and drummer, the full range of Stefanie’s multiple talents is showcased on 'Nest'. The abrasive urgency of her emotive vocals is mirrored in the tribalistic drumming, just as tender whispers echo the gentle roll of percussion elsewhere. Co-conspirators Stijn Vanhoegaerden (guitar) and Peter Mulders (bass) complete the magic circle with pervasive riffs, dynamic bass lines, and a fine balance between uneasy restraint and unrepentant aggression. BRUTUS throws a net over post-rock, hardcore, metal and pop, gathering defining facets of each into their unique sound.
A diverse mix of influences penetrated the BRUTUS bubble, the biggest of which was the people around them on the journey to the creation of 'Nest'. Be it the bands they toured with, their family at home, or indeed their own bandmates - human interaction is the nucleus of the album. However, additional sources of creative inspiration peppered their outlook; from Radiohead to Burial, from ‘Twin Peaks’ to Townes Van Zandt.
The path BRUTUS has taken has been meticulously mapped out on 'Nest'. All those glorious highs and euphoric moments are present - highlighted in magnificent technicolour no less. Burrowed in amongst those triumphs are moments of reflection; the choices they have made in pursuit of their goals and the impact those choices have had on both themselves and those they have left behind in their nest. The arc of the album charts the friction between the band’s forward motion and their desire to maintain a connection to those back at home. It’s a timeline of invincibility and doubt, of taking risks and letting go; a chronology of what they are and what they’ve done.
Bound by a thread that was intangible to others, their shared experiences, both good and bad; 'Nest' is the sound of a band who know how to use the strength of their bond to full effect, to use every part of themselves as an additional tool for conveying their message: take care of those in your own nest. BRUTUS find their places of comfort to be very different to the ones previously held dear; the nest they started out with is not quite the same one as they stand in today.

DANIEL NORGREN – Kündigt neues Album "Wooh Dang" und Europa Tour an
Superpuma Records announced Tuesday that Daniel Norgren's next album, titled Wooh Dang, will be released April 19, 2019. Norgren's first studio release since 2015, Wooh Dang will be the Swedish artist’s first album to be distributed globally through Redeye Worldwide. Recorded live and entirely on a 16 track analogue rig, the album was produced by Norgren and engineered by longtime collaborator Pelle Nyhage in a 19th-century textile farmhouse in the woods of Southwest Sweden.

Surinamese artist/songwriter Jeangu Macrooy (Paramaribo, 1993) made a big advance through the Netherlands in the last two years. In April 2016 Unexpected Records released his debut EP ‘Brave Enough’, Jeangu was named ‘Serious Talent’ by 3FM radio and he played his first single ‘Gold’ on Dutch national talk show ‘De Wereld Draait Door’, where he has become a frequent guest ever since. The year 2017 begun with a performance at showcase festival Noorderslag and a nomination for the Edison Pop Award in the category ‘Best New Artist.’ In April of that same year, his debut album ‘High On You’ was released.
The record was nominated for the Edison Pop Award 'Best Album', and received critical acclaim from the press. The release was celebrated with two sold out club tours. Moreover, Jeangu played an abundance of festivals with his band, including North Sea Jazz and Lowlands. In January 2018 Jeangu performed at European showcase festival Eurosonic, followed by opening slots for Curtis Harding and Ayo in Germany. Before going on a new series of festival shows during the summer of 2018, Jeangu embarked on a solo tour along eight extraordinary churches in The Netherlands.
On February 8th 2018, Jeangu will release his second album ‘Horizon’, which, just as his debut-EP and -album, has been produced by Perquisite (from Pete Philly & Perquisite). On ‘Horizon’ Jeangu shows that he's willing to experiment and explore roads he didn't walk down before. Besides the familiar soul-influences in his songs, also dance- ('Shake Up This Place', 'Adrenaline'), hip hop- ('Good Thing', 'How Much I Love You') and rock-influences ('Surrender') are noticeable, without Jeangu losing his unique sound and feel. On February 7th 2019, Jeangu and his band will be presenting the album in the grand hall of Paradiso, Amsterdam. 'Horizon' will be released digitally, on CD and LP, and will be distributed physically by [PIAS] in The Netherlands, Germany, France and Belgium.

“I’ve stretched out—I’m singing songs that rock stars have written for me,” explainedMavis Staples, “but they know me and the kind of songs I want to sing.” This includes “Love and Trust,” composed by Ben Harper, which is also the opening song on Live in London. Live in London is Mavis Staples’ first live album in ten years, set for release on February 8, 2019. Recorded over two nights at London’s Union Chapel (which she calls “the best place in the world to sing”) and produced by Staples herself, Live in London reveals that the singer retains astonishing power after seventy years as a performer. While her repertoire continues to expand, her philosophy is unchanged since her days in the groundbreaking family group the Staple Singers.
Ironically, her last live record—2008’s Hope at the Hideout—was cut against the background of her fellow Chicagoan Barack Obama’s historic election, while the new album inevitably addresses the horrors of the Donald Trump era. Notably, though the Staple Singers were responsible for such indelible anthems as “I’ll Take You There” and “Respect Yourself,” Live in London delivers its own powerful sounds and formidable statements without including those classics. “Of course I still perform those songs,” says Staples, “but we didn't see any need for them to be on the record. This gives people a chance to hear what we're doing now.”
The focus of this collection is material Staples has recorded since signing with ANTI- Records in 2007, and in that time Staples has had songs written for her by iconoclastic artists like Nick Cave, Neko Case, and Merrill Garbus (Tune-Yards); collaborated with modern rock powerhouses Arcade Fire, Gorillaz, and Hozier; and recorded multiple albums with Jeff Tweedy from Wilco.
“It’s kind of unbelievable to me that I’m still recording,” says Staples. “I never thought I would still be singing at my age, and people seem to really want to hear me, they know me, they give me love—I'm just overwhelmed, really. I thank God every night before I go to bed and then again every morning for waking up.”

PARKWAY DRIVE haben am 4. Mai 2018 mit "Reverence" ihr von Fans wie Presse hochgelobtes siebtes Studioalbum veröffentlicht. Das Album zeigt sich als das musikalisch ausgereifteste und emotional intensivste Werk der fünfköpfigen Band aus der Byron Bay, deren Genre-prägender Backkatalog bis in Jahr 2004 zurückreicht.
"REVERENCE stellt das ehrlichste und persönlichste Album dar, das wir jemals geschrieben haben", so PARKWAY DRIVE-Frontmann Winston McCall. "Es ist das Ergebnis von viel Schmerz, Hingabe und Überzeugung. Wir haben versucht nicht nur das musikalische Verständnis von Parkway Drive zu erweitern, sondern auch als Menschen zu wachsen."
Alle PARKWAY DRIVE-Alben haben Goldstatus in Australien erreicht. Des Weiteren wurden auch zwei DVDs veröffentlicht (2012 Home is For The Heartless und 2009 Parkway Drive: The DVD), die beide Platinstatus erreicht haben.

Die Heavy-Metal Legenden SEVENDUST veröffentlichen jetzt das Video zu ihrer Single "Risen", das es hier zu sehen gibt. Der Track erschien letztes Jahr mit dem aktuellen Album "All I See Is War" auf Rise Records.

Heavy metal legends Sevendust have unveiled a new music video for the next single from their 12th studio album, All I See Is War. “Risen” is a live performance montage clip for the latest single that is currently impacting Active Rock radio. The video was filmed during the band’s recent show in London at the Brixton Academy. Dan Sturge, known for his work with Alter Bridge, directed the clip. The video can be seen here.
“Risen” comes from the band’s Rise Records’ debut All I See Is War that was released in May 2018. All I See Is War received critical acclaim with the Associated Press raving: “There are some people who sneer at hard rockers Sevendust, expressing dislike for the metal band for its lighter tones and stylistic changes. The Strange ist eine einzigartige Kollaboration der Kroatischen Surf-Rock Band The Bambi Molesters mit US Singer-Songwriter Chris Eckman von den Walkabouts. Für die, die es noch nicht wussten: The Bambi Molesters erweiterten die Grenzen des Surf-Rock Genres und erspielten sich live einen Ruf als eine der besten instrumentalen Rock Bands. 2010 veröffentlichten sie mit “As The Dark Wave Swells” eines ihrer besten Alben auf Glitterhouse Records.
Das neue Album ist noch mal eine Spur abwechslungsreicher und tief gehender als Nights of Forgotten Films. Killing Time zum Beispiel klingt wie ein verschollener Country-Soul Song aus den 60er Jahren, Dime A Dozen wie Funk-Rock aus den frühen 70ern und Broken Down Blues wie ein Blues aus der Feder von Leonard Cohen. Schöne Twang Gitarren, elegante Bläser, geschmackvolle Keyboards und entzückende Streicher vermitteln das Gefühl, dass Echo Chamber das Echo von Baroque-Pop Legenden wie Lee Hazlewood, Scott Walker, Van Dyke Parks oder Burt Bacharach ist.
Produziert wurde Echo Chamber von Don Antonio, seines Zeichens Mitglied von Sacri Cuori und bekannt für seine Arbeiten mit Alejandro Escovedo und Dan Stuart (Green on Red), in Zusammenarbeit mit der Produzenten Legende Phill Brown (The Rolling Stones, Bob Marley, Roxy Music, Talk Talk ).
Ein Americana Poet, der von Seattle nach Ljubljana zog und eine Surf-Rock Band aus Zagreb. Weite Wege, doch so nah. Wer The Strange schon einmal zusammen auf der Bühne erlebt hat, weiß, wie schön diese Zusammenarbeit klingen kann.
The Strange 'Echo Chamber' wird am 22. Februar auf Glitterhouse Records erscheinen, gefolgt von einer ausgedehnten Europatour.

TEENAGE BOTTLEROCKET – Neues Album "Stay Rad!“ am 15.03. auf Fat Wreck / Neuer Song "I Wanna Be A Dog“ / Tourdaten
Die Pop-Punkrocker von TEENAGE BOTTLEROCKET werden am 15.03. ihr neues Album "Stay Rad!“ auf Fat Wreck veröffentlichten. Nach dem Cover-Album "Stealing The Covers“ von 2017, ist dies das erste neue Studio-Album mir originalen Songs seit dem tragischen Tod des Schlagzeugers Brandon Carlisle 2015.
Sein Zwillingsbruder und Gitarrist/Sänger Ray Carlisle kommentiert:
“I'm definitely proud of it,” says Ray. “It's cool how we all came together through something so tragic and made one of our best records. I think Brandon would really love it. Stealing The Covers really helped us get back on our feet and it was a cool in-between, but this record was something we wanted to make as excellent as possible.”
Mit "I Wanna Be A Dog“ steht ab sofort ein neuer Song zum Anhören bereit.
