DEUCE - "Here I Come"-Musikvideo / Neues Album "Invincible" am 1. Dezember via Better Noise Records
2012 hat DEUCE (Ex-Hollywood Undead) mit seinem Solo-Debütalbum "Nine Lives" ordentlich für Furore gesorgt: 100.000 Exemplare wurden verkauft und das Album satte 33 Millionen Mal bei Youtube angeklickt! Nun, fünf Jahre nach diesem Erfolg, will der Musiker nachlegen und hat für den 1. Dezember seinen zweiten Longplayer "Invincible" bei Better Noise Records angekündigt!
Interessant dabei: Der Rapper, Produzent und Sänger hat das Werk sowohl in der Stadt aufgenommen, in der er aufgewachsen ist (Los Angeles), als auch in Portland, wo er nun lebt - was sich in besonderer Weise auf den Sound ausgewirkt hat.

Lonely The Brave have been deliberately quiet these last few months, working on new material and reassessing what has come before. This has been all the more noticeable because before then, they had never stopped: last year alone saw them secure a no.1 on the rock chart with their second LP “Things Will Matter”, sell-out a headline tour and play main support on a hugely successful European tour with Biffy Clyro, followed with a thematically linked series of EP’s which have shown the sheer depth of strong material that was available to them around that second record.
But despite their successes, Lonely The Brave have never been like their peers, never calculated the game in quite the same way they have, never shot from the same angle. From their stage dynamics, to their influences, to covering the likes of Bjork, Pink Floyd and Antony & The Johnsons, they have always been proud of their differences and in what has staunchly set them apart from the others who have now fallen by the wayside. They followed the release of their critically acclaimed debut “The Day’s War” with an extended version including several Redux tracks that reinvented material rather than simply stripping it back and they follow this theme of insular reinvention again now on a full Redux album version of “Things Will Matter”. Melody and heart will always be at the centre of what they do, but Lonely The Brave are here to prove once again that they will always continue to do things that other bands can’t.
Opening with the extremely personal title track “Things Will Matter”, a live favourite which was not featured on the album of the same name, frontman David Jakes tackles his relationship with his father and addresses mortality in an emotive song that finally sees a studio version. And from here the band revisit material from the last album, this time pushing an electronic influence to the forefront – the likes of Brainfeeder’s Lorn, A Winged Victory For The Sullen, Mogwai and more inform a sound that now incorporates synths, programming and atmospherics in a way they haven’t before. David is also pushed further to the front here, just as he has managed to do in recent live shows, reminding you exactly why he is one of the most gifted vocalists in recent memory.
The likes of “What If You Fall In” trade in some of the expanse of the full record for intimacy and beauty instead, and the album’s singles are given second life – especially the haunting harmonies that now envelope “Radar” and the piano-led “Rattlesnakes”. Elsewhere, the major chords and bombast of “Strange Like I” are replaced with something otherworldly and obtuse instead – and this follows through into the score-like “Jaws Of Hell” which somehow takes the original and expands on its ambition further, feeling like it would be as fitting an end to a film as it is an album.
At their most anthemic, or at their most vulnerable, Lonely The Brave remain an inarguably important act. Where they head for the next album remains to be seen, but you know that if they can keep their heads we will be rewarded with another record on their own terms that will always stand proudly apart from the rest.

Wir freuen uns sehr, MY BABY in der Glitterhouse Family of Music herzlich willkommen heißen zu dürfen! Das niederländisch-neuseeländische Trio wurde 2012 in Amsterdam gegründet. Cato van Dyck, ihr Bruder Sheik und Daniel Johnston veröffentlichten 2013 ihr Debütalbum "Loves Voodoo!", gefolgt von unzähligen Auftritten, u. a. auf dem Glastonbury, dem Lowlands und dem Sziget Festival. 2015 erschien der Nachfolger “Shamanaid” und MY BABY spielten alleine in diesem Jahr über 200 Shows und Festivals u. a. in Südafrika, Neuseeland, USA, UK und Deutschland.
Der Band um Frontfrau Cato van Dyck gelingt es, mit minimalen Mitteln maximale stilistische Bandbreite zu erreichen: Slide Gitarren treffen auf soulig-hippiesken Gesang und TripHop Beats, sodass eine Mischung aus Desert Blues, Indie, Hippie-Rock, Electronica und Psychedelia entsteht. Selbst die kritische englische Presse war sich schnell einig, dass MY BABY eine glänzende Zukunft beschieden sein wird. Wo immer das Trio auftaucht, wird es begeistert gefeiert: “Y’all dope, y’all the future!” (Seasick Steve). Live gelingt die Umsetzung ihres komplexen Bandsounds komplett ohne Loops oder Samples, sondern ausschließlich mit Slide-Gitarre, Drums und der mächtigen Stimme von Cato van Dyck. Das hat mörderischen Beat und steigert sich in Trance-artige Grooves: “They were just incredible. ...the crowd just went nuts!” (Larry Graham).
Wir freuen uns sehr am 17. März 2017 MY BABY's neues Album “Prehistoric Rhythm” auf Glitterhouse Records veröffentlichen zu dürfen. Die Band ist noch bis Ende März in Neuseeland und Südafrika auf Tour gefolgt von vielen Shows und Festivals in Europa.

Die aufstrebenden Modern Progressive Metaller NOVELISTS haben ein Gitarren-Playthrough zu ihrem Song "Heal The Wound" veröffentlicht. Der Song stammt vom zweiten Album "Noir" das im September veröffentlicht wurde.

PACESHIFTERS - Tour im Februar
Kaum hat die Tour mit Frank Iero und Dave Hause ein Ende gefunden, verkünden PACESHIFTERS auch schon die nächsten Konzerttermine in Europa!
Vom 14. bis einschließlich dem 27. Februar wird die Band in Großbritannien und Kontinentaleuropa unterwegs sein und dabei auch dreimal in Deutschland auf der Bühne stehen - selbstverständlich mit ihrem am 6. Oktober via Hassle Records erschienenen Album "Waiting To Derail" in der Hinterhand!

HUGO RACE & MICHELANGELO RUSSO - Zu Gast an der Universität Paderborn
Der Melbourne stammende Hugo Race hat als Gründungsmitglied und Gitarrist von Nick Caves Band "The Bad Seeds“, Kopf seiner eigenen Band "The Wreckery“, Mentor der italienischen Songschreiberin Marta Collica oder Motor des Ambient-Folk-Trios "Dirtmusic“ mit Chris Brokaw (Come, Codeine) und Chris Eckman (The Walkabouts) Popmusikgeschichte geschrieben. Dazu hat Race solo oder mit seinen Bands "Fatalists“ und vor allem "The True Spirit“ seit bald dreißig Jahren eine eigene Art von wüstensoundhaften, psychedelischen und dennoch stets sehr intensivem Blues entwickelt und so etwas wie die dunkle Seite der Tindersticks, White Stripes oder Black Keys vorbereitet. Race veröffentlichte zuletzt das wuchtige Album "True Spirit“, die heftig-krachige E.P. "False Idols“ sowie das entspannt-majestätische Album "24 Hours to Nowhere“. Seine autobiographische Erzählung "Road Series“ hat Race letztes Jahr weltweit publiziert.
Auf ausgedehnter Tournee um den Globus mit dem "True Spirit“-Mitglied und italienischen Multiinstrumentalisten Michelangelo Russo präsentiert der australische Weltenbummler das neue Album "John Lee Hooker’s World Today“ (Glitterhouse Records, Beverungen). Zum 100. Geburtstag der Blues-Legende Hooker haben Race und Russo im Berliner Studio des Hausproduzenten der Einstürzenden Neubauten acht düster-kraftvolle Hooker-Bearbeitungen zwischen Drone, Trance, Ambient, Electronica, Post Punk und Country eingespielt. Wenn Nick Cave, Ry Cooder, Leonard Cohen und David Lynch in einer imaginären Bar ihren Depressionen frönen, wird Hugo im verstaubt-stylishen Anzug im Schatten dazu aufspielen (für Studierende zum Sonderpreis). Der Blues ist ein Teufel. Auch 2017.
Vor dem Auftritt werden Hugo Race und Michelangelo Russo zu Gast an der Universität Paderborn in einem Seminar zu Nick Cave und Post Punk Blues bei Prof. Dr. Christoph Jacke im Studiengang Populäre Musik und Medien sein und mit den Studierenden diskutieren.

TOM WAITS - Re-Release remasterter Alben auf Anti- Records / Erste VÖ: "Bad As Me" am 16. November
Noch in diesem Jahr wird TOM WAITS gleich sechs seiner auf Anti- Records erschienenen Alben in remasterter Form wiederveröffentlichen und "Real Gone" wurde dabei sogar erneut völlig neu gemixt! Für Anfang 2018 hat der Musiker obendrein den Re-Release von "Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers and Bastards" vermeldet und angekündigt, die drei Teile separat zu veröffentlichen.

”This restoration project could arrogantly be compared to restoring a faded tapestry, a painstaking process that requires meticulous attention to each color faded thread. Spending months on something completed once, many years ago was necessary though cursedly laborious for us.”

The first to be released is the Grammy nominated album Bad As Me (2011). These songs were designed to be lean and mean, with strong hooks and tight running times. From the opening horn-fueled chug of “Chicago”, to the closing barroom chorale of “New Year’s Eve”, Bad As Me displays the full career range of Waits’ songwriting, from beautiful ballads like “Last Leaf” to the avant cinematic soundscape of “Hell Broke Luce” a battlefront dispatch. Waits worked with longtime co-writer and producer Kathleen Brennan, in addition to Waits’ veterans; Keith Richards, Marc Ribot, David Hidalgo, Larry Taylor and Casey Waits. Bad As Me arrives in stores November 16th.
Other remastered albums to be released:
Mule Variations (1999) The Grammy award winner for Best Contemporary Folk Album, and Certified Gold Record, offers the iconic songs “Hold On” and “What’s He Building in There” along with the groove heavy, “Get Behind The Mule.” Experimentation are interspersed with some of the most beautiful and personal songs Waits has written.
Blood Money (2002) Based on the true story of Woyzeck, a conscripted German soldier, who murders the mother of his child after being driven mad by army drug experiments. This is a darkly rhythmic record, illuminating life’s bleak carnival with songs like “Misery is The River of the World” and “God’s Away on Business” and includes the melancholic beauty of “All the World is Green” and “The Part You Throw Away.” Marimba, bass clarinet, trumpet, viola, cello, calliope and log drums form the core group of instruments.
Alice (2002) Alice is a haunted, moody chamber piece devoted to the obsessive, forbidden love of Charles Dodgson for Alice Liddell, for whom Alice in Wonderland was created. Piano, pump organ, cello, theremin and stroh violin are the main instruments employed for these melancholy and comic musings on death, longing, and the random meanness of life. Waits adapts the classic blues jazz balladry his early career in the eponymous song, “Alice” and the seasick pump organ and strings ode to the wall that separated East from West Germany, “Lost in the Harbor.”
Real Gone (2004) Grammy nominated and featuring an entirely new mix that better fulfills the dynamic musical soundscape Waits/Brennan envisioned from the beginning. To accomplish this they returned to the multitrack session tapes and enhanced certain instruments or a vocal arrangement to create a sound that better represents the full bodied more sonically vibrant and jagged edges that Waits and Brennan were originally going for but lost.
Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards (2006) This Grammy Nominated, Gold certified three disc set will be offered as separate records for the first time. The collection goes beyond a simple career retrospective with over 30 newly recorded songs and unique interpretations of songs by a diverse group of artists which include, The Ramones, Daniel Johnston, Kurt Weill & Bertolt Brecht and Leadbelly.
Glitter and Doom Live (2009) Disc one captures 17 performances hand-picked by Waits from his sold-out 2008 international tour. The collection features a haunting “Trampled Rose” from Real Gone and a hypnotic “Get Behind the Mule” from Mule Variations. Waits also digs into the vaults for tracks like a reimagined “Singapore” from 1985’s Rain Dogs. The second disc, “Tom Tales”, features a selection of the comic bromides, strange musings, and unusual facts that Tom traditionally shares with audiences.
