Band: Marc Ribot
Album: Goodbye Beautiful/Songs of Resistance 1942-2018
VÖ: 14.09.2018
Label: Anti- / Indigo
Website: www.marcribot.com

"Every movement which has ever won anything has had songs," says Marc Ribot.

With his new album Goodbye Beautiful/Songs of Resistance 1942 - 2018, Ribot--one of the world's most accomplished and acclaimed guitar players--set out to assemble a set of songs that spoke to this political moment with appropriate ambition, passion, and fury. The eleven songs on the record are drawn from the World War II anti-Fascist Italian partisans, the U.S. civil rights movement, and Mexican protest ballads, as well as original compositions, and feature a wide range of guest vocalists, including Tom Waits, Steve Earle, Meshell Ndegeocello, Justin Vivian Bond, Fay Victor, Sam Amidon, and Ohene Cornelius.

Ribot began working on the project at the end of 2016, responding not just to the American elections, but to the political trends he was seeing around the world. "I am alarmed by Trump and the movement he's part of," he says. "I've spent a good chunk of my life running around the world on tour--I'm kind of an accidental internationalist--and I see that he's not an isolated phenomenon. And if we don't deal with what is going on, it is going to deal with us."

Band: Black Peaks
Album: All That Divides
VÖ: 05.10.2018
Label: Rise Records / BMG / ADA Warner
Website: www.blackpeaks.com

The world is a divided place. Right and Left; north and south; rich and poor; young and old; hate and peace; intolerance and acceptance.

For longer than he cares to remember, Will Gardner has struggled to come to terms with such separation. As frontman of Black Peaks, one of British rock's most progressive, dynamic young rock acts, he and his bandmates have experienced firsthand the human impact of such division. Formed in 2012, the success of the Brighton quartet's critically acclaimed breakout debut album Statues saw a rapid ascension to sell-out headline success and festival mainstages in their native country, and to sharing stages across Europe with legendary names including Deftones, Mastodon, Prophets Of Rage, The Dillinger Escape Plan, System Of A Down and more.

Yet while the rock world united behind the band's riff-heavy, technically accomplished and prog-infused alt.rock, Black Peaks were on the road, watching the world fall apart around them from their tour bus windows.
"Even two years ago, we would never have imagined that the world would be in such a place where you are fighting for equality for all people of any gender, sexuality or skin colour," Gardner states. "But now, we're suddenly in a position where that is being challenged and threatened on a daily basis."

Band: Valley Maker
Album: Rhododendron
VÖ: 12.10.2018
Label: Frenchkiss Records / Membran
Website: www.valleymaker.com/

Valley Maker, the folk project of South Carolina-bred, Seattle-based songwriter Austin Crane, announced his new album Rhododendron. Set for release on October 12, the album is Valley Maker's debut with new label home Frenchkiss Records. The ten songs of Rhododendron reflect Crane's headspace as a PhD student in Human Geography, roaming through places in time and meditating on the spaces and connections we share with others. The record features production by Crane's longtime friend Chaz Bear of Toro y Moi and Trevor Spencer (Father John Misty, Fleet Foxes). Valley Maker released the new album's rambling first single "Light On The Ground" along with a video directed by Joseph Kolean.
Rhododendron is the follow-up to Valley Maker's 2015 full-length When I Was A Child, praised by Spin for its "sense of a haunting warmness" and The Line Of Best Fit for send[ing] shivers across your spine with the bittersweet riffery."

Band: Justin Courtney Pierre
Album: In The Drink
VÖ: 12.10.2018
Label: Epitaph Records / Indigo
Website: www.justincourtneypierre.com

Motion City Soundtrack frontman Justin Courtney Pierre has announced the upcoming release of his debut solo record In The Drink. The record will be released via Epitaph Records on October 12.

Produced by Motion City Soundtrack guitarist Joshua Cain, In The Drink finds Pierre at his most unfiltered, embracing everything from anthemic pop to moodier and more darkly charged material. Pierre plays all instruments on the album except for drums, which are performed by David Jarnstrom (Gratitude, BNLX).

In 1997 Pierre co-founded Motion City Soundtrack, the widely celebrated rock band whose last album Panic Stations hit the Billboard 200. Although Pierre had initially planned to focus on domestic life after the band went on hiatus in 2016, he soon felt compelled to revisit the hundreds of voice memos, lyrical scribblings, and melody ideas he'd compiled since age seven. "There is a part of me that just needs to make stuff, so with whatever free time I had I'd be writing and then I'd clean the house and then I'd write some more," Pierre recalls.

Band: Wolfgang Michels
Album: Erntezeit
VÖ: 14.09.2018
Label/Vertrieb: Glitterhouse / Indigo
Bandwebsite: http://www.wolfgang-michels.de/ www.glitterhouserecords.com

Band: The Joy Formidable
Album: AAARTH
VÖ: 28.09.2018
Label: Hassle Records / Rough Trade
Website: www.thejoyformidable.com

"With life not always being that kind, you can either go down a really dark hole or you can smear yourself with colour and reverie and try to forget. That's what we did with AAARTH; we threw ourselves into this beautiful vivacious collage of experimentation, real meets unreal, and stopped giving a fuck about things that didn't matter, and started caring more about the things that are worth your time.

Band: Amy Helm
Album: This Too Shall Light
VÖ: 21.09.2018
Label: Yep Roc Records / H'Art
Website: www.amyhelm.com

Amy Helm sought what she calls a "circular sound" for her new album. It's a well-rounded one, one marked by streaks of Americana, country, blues, and gospel, and the kinds of four-part harmonies that can burst open a melody and close the loop of an octave. And sentimentally, it's a sound that represents the feeling of community.

This Too Shall Light, due September 21, 2018 on Yep Roc Records, comprises 10 songs produced by Grammy-winning producer and songwriter Joe Henry. Helm left her home and comfort zone of Woodstock, NY, choosing to record in Los Angeles within the confines of just a four-day window. The musicians were directed not to overthink the songs, and Helm herself barely performed any of the selections while leading up to the recording. As a result, the sessions forced fast musical trust among the collaborators and yielded the vibrant instrumental improvisations heard throughout This Too Shall Light.

Band: Good Charlotte (nur Print, Web, keine Radio PR)
Album: Generation RX
VÖ: 14.09.2018
Label: MDDN/BMG - Ada Warner
Website: www.goodcharlotte.com

Band: Steiner & Madlaina
Album: Cheers
VÖ: 19.10.2018
Label/Vertrieb: Glitterhouse / Indigo
Bandwebsite: https://de-de.facebook.com/SteinerMadlaina

Band: Dawn Landes
Album: Meet Me At The River
VÖ: 14.09.2018
Label: Yep Roc / H'Art
Website: www.dawnlandes.com

Through four full-length albums, singer-songwriter Dawn Landes has blazed her own path with songs that are as fresh as they are timeless. Still, there's no mistaking that strains of Nashville reside in her voice and in her musical soul, and now, with her fifth album, Landes is finally bringing them to center stage.

Meet Me At The River is Landes' self-described "Nashville record," and she has assured its pedigree by enlisting the production skills of Fred Foster, the Country Music Hall of Fame member who played a pivotal role in the careers of Dolly Parton, Roy Orbison, and Kris Kristofferson.

"I knew I wanted to make a record in Nashville," says Landes, who has been based in New York for most of her music career. "I had this idea of what the sound of Nashville was to me - the countrypolitan sound of the '50s and '60s - I thought it would be great to work with someone who was actually a part of that scene, so I went straight to the source."

Band: Swingin' Utters
Album: Love And Peace
VÖ: 31.08.2018
Label: Fat Wreck Chords / Edel
Website: www.swinginutters.com

While its origin story has gone through more reboots than Batman, Superman and Spider-Man combined, punk rock has been a consistent presence on the musical landscape for more than 40 years. You might be surprised to know, however, that the Swingin' Utters have been around for nearly as long --the band celebrated their 30th anniversary with a greatest-hits collection last year. Hell, this Bay Area street-punk band is so well-respected among their peers, there's even a whole tribute compilation dedicated to their extensive catalog, including covers by the likes of Dropkick Murphys, Fucked Up and Teenage Bottlerocket.

Since that comp came out in 2010, the Utters have issued three more full-lengths, each more fiery than the last, and now sit on the verge of releasing their ninth proper LP. Recorded at Nu-Tune Studios in Pittsburg, California, this past March by Chris Dugan (Green Day, Iggy Pop), the album is titled Peace And Love, but don't let that fool you: This isn't some Haight and Ashbury hippie shit. In fact, according to guitarist/vocalist Darius Koski, Peace And Love's content is as politically outspoken as the Utters have ever been.

Band: Alejandro Escovedo
Album: The Crossing
VÖ: 14.09.2018
Label: Yep Roc Records / H'Art
Website: www.alejandroescovedo.com

Crossing borders, jumping barriers, taking risks, betting it all: that's the path Alejandro Escovedo has been taking in his lifelong search for the heart of rock and roll.

The epic 17 song suite comprising The Crossing is about that journey: searching, but not necessarily finding, eyes and ears open all the way. Ranging from sweeping orchestral numbers to classic rock to bursts of 70s punk, the collection finds Escovedo delving further into his lifelong musical journey across his most sonically diverse work yet.

"This says more about me than any of my records without it being a record about me," Alejandro says.

The Crossing tells the tale of two boys, one from Mexico, one from Italy, who meet in Texas to chase their American rock and roll dreams. They discover a not-so-welcoming, very different place from the Promised Land they imagined, with cameos from the likes of Wayne Kramer of the MC5 and James Williamson of the Stooges to show the boys the way.

Band: Amber Rubarth
Album: Wildflowers In The Graveyard
VÖ: 19.10.2018
Label/Vertrieb: Make My Day Records / Indigo
Bandwebsite: www.amberrubarth.com

Pure Entschleunigung. Mithin also die also die Anthithese zum aktuellen Popgeschehen.

Band: Night Birds
Album: Roll Credits
Label /Vertrieb: Fat Wreck / Edel
VÖ: 21.09.2018

If you're a fan of Night Birds, like we are, you'll want to thank the several nor'easters that slammed into the east coast this past winter. Being barricaded in their homes, Night Birds had nothing better to do than write some new music! Head over to Decibel right now to listen to "My Dad Is the BTK." It's an explosive first taste of their ripping new eight-song mini-album, Roll Credits, out Sept 21. Additionally, the 12-inch and limited edition 7" box set are available for pre-order. The box set includes "cover art" for each song on the album, each drawn by a different artist. Featuring art from Chris Shary, Nathan Gattis, Perry Shall, Marissa Paternoster, Michael Saunders, Paul D'Elia, Alex Hagen, and Keith Marlowe.

This summer, Night Birds will celebrate their ten-year anniversary. That's a long time for any band, but it's especially long for a punk band, which Night Birds vocalist Brian Gorsegner is acutely aware of. "Ten years in punk years is kind of like dog years. Not a ton of bands make it that long," he says. But unlike a lot of bands, Night Birds aren't hanging on for dear life. Instead, they're as spry as they've spry as they've ever been, and they've got the eight-song mini-album Roll Credits to prove it.

Band: Spain
Album: Mandala Brush
VÖ: 28.09.2018
Label/Vertrieb: Glitterhouse / Indigo

Über den geheimnisvollen Albumtitel sagt Josh "a mandala is an ancient and sacred symbol representing the oneness of the universe. The "brush" in the context of this album is a modern and secular tool used in computer art applications. The mandala brush helps facilitate the creation of mandalas, but is never a finished mandala in and of itself".

Band: Tony Joe White
Album: Bad Mouthin'
VÖ: 28.09.2018
Label: Yep Roc Records / H'Art
Website: www.tonyjoewhite.com

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Tony Joe White's music is as primal as a lizard's backbone. It echoes from the magnolia groves and bayous of his Louisiana childhood, and looms into the present every time he unleashes the molasses and tanned-leather combination of his guitar and voice. The legendary songwriter's new blues-based album, Bad Mouthin', which arrives September 28, comes straight from the swamps with its blend of classics and five White originals, including two of the first songs he wrote -- just before penning his breakthrough hits "Polk Salad Annie" and "A Rainy Night in Georgia" in 1967.

"When and where I grew up, blues was just about the only music I heard and truly loved," says White, who's 75 and, if anything, an even more visceral performer than in his youth. "I've always thought of myself as a blues musician, bottom line, because the blues is real, and I like to keep everything I do as real as it gets. So, I thought it was time to make a blues record that sounds the way I always loved the music."

Band: Matt Epp
Album: Shadowlands
VÖ: 24.08.2018
Label/Vertrieb: Tonetoaster Rec / Alive

Band: The Faim
Album (EP): Summer Is A Curse“ 6 Song EP
VÖ: 07.09.2018
Label /Vertrieb: BMG / Ada Warner

After kicking off 2018 with extensive global touring, headlining their first ever sold out shows, and releasing three massive singles and videos, The Faim will release their debut EP, Summer Is A Curse, on 7th September. All songs on the EP were produced with the legendary John Feldmann (blink-182, All Time Low, Good Charlotte) and serve as a prelude to the band’s hotly-anticipated first full-length album, slated for 2019. During the recording process of the record, the five-piece teamed up with industry staples including Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy, Josh Dun of Twenty One Pilots, Mark Hoppus of blink-182, and Ashton Irwin of 5 Seconds of Summer.

Comprised of six tracks, Summer Is A Curse showcases the pop-rock quartet’s stadium-ready anthems, infectious hooks, impressive songwriting chops, and frontman Josh Raven’s striking vocals. The EP also includes five brand new songs in addition to smash single, “Summer Is A Curse,” which has clocked over 2.5 million global streams and landed on notable Spotify playlists including Rock This, The New Alt and New Noise. They have racked up support from VEVO, BBC Radio 1, Upset, Rock Sound, Alternative Press, MTV, The Box, Scuzz and are currently Top 20 in the German airplay charts.

Band: Richard Reed Parry
Album: Quiet River of Dust Vol.1
VÖ: 21.09.2018
Label: Anti- Records / Indigo
Website: www.richardreedparry.com

A man travelling in a foreign land wanders through a forest of ghosts, who sing his past back to him. A rainstorm that starts and never ends. A boy dissolves into a body of water. These images inspire music that tells the story of two spheres: in one, an embodied experience of the physical world; in the other, something disembodied, dissolved and oceanic. Japanese folk myths, death poems and British folk music are tributaries flowing into a river of late-20th century avant-garde composition and traditional song craft, written and performed by a member of a Grammy-winning rock band. This is a meditative, widescreen musical experience with Beach Boy harmonies and a hypnotic pulse. Layered songs that move in a linear fashion, following a current rather than circular composition. This is Richard Reed Parry's Quiet River of Dust. Being released as two volumes, Quiet River of Dust Vol. 1 will be available on the start of the autumn equinox, September 21 2018. Quiet River of Dust Vol. 2 is coming out next year on the spring equinox 2019.

Band: Walking Dead On Broadway
Album: Dead Era
VÖ: 28.09.2018
Label: Long Branch Records
Website: www.facebook.com/wdobmetal/

Band: Thrice
Album: Palms
VÖ: 14.09.2018
Label: Epitaph / Indigo
Website: www.thrice.net

At the end of summer 2017, not long after Thrice had finished up a national tour, singer Dustin Kensrue woke up in the middle of the night and found himself fixated on the mental image of an open hand--a visual that instantly became his touchstone in the writing of Thrice's tenth album, Palms.

"I got up and started listing off all the things an open palm represented, especially as opposed to the idea of a closed hand or a fist," says Kensrue, who co-founded Thrice with guitarist Teppei Teranishi, bassist Eddie Breckenridge, and drummer Riley Breckenridge in 1998. "That became the basis of the record: that feeling of being open, whether it's open to mystery or to receive things or to give. The album came from a place of trying to combat the hate and bigotry we're seeing in the world right now, but attempting to do that in a way that's nondivisive."

Band: Doe Paoro
Album: Soft Power
VÖ: 19.10
Label: ANTI Records / Indigo
Website: www.doepaoro.com/

Transforming pain into transcendence is the genius of many pop artists, but Doe Paoro brings an entirely new depth to that process. On her third album Soft Power, the L.A.-based singer/songwriter digs into her own frustration and anguish, and ultimately comes away with a newfound strength that's profoundly inspiring.

"So much of the album is about reclaiming parts of myself that I had lost," explains Doe, who's originally from Syracuse, New York. "It's about being a woman, and what exactly that means at this particular moment in time; about witnessing a lack of justice when it comes to men and control. Both at the personal and societal levels, I was watching people in power play games with our lives, with the environment. I found this theme reappearing in the music I was writing during this period; it was less intentional and more about a certain kind of catharsis."

Touring her electronically adorned second album After - a 2015 release produced at the Wisconsin studio helmed by Bon Iver's Justin Vernon - shaped Doe's intentions with Soft Power. "After had so many elaborate arrangements that were bigger than we could recreate with a live band, so we had to use backing tracks. It was limiting on stage - the music was mapped out in advance and I felt like we could never be completely spontaneous. I wanted to make an entire album that could be recreated live because for me, that's where the deeper connection takes place."

Band: Betontod (nur Web PR)
Album: Vamos!
VÖ: 31.08.2018
Label: Arising Empire / Warner

Band: Dawn Brothers
Album: CLASSIC
VÖ: 12.10.2018
Label / Vertrieb: V2 / H’art

Who said roots can only ever be retro? Although it may seem as if The Dawn Brothers arrived from the past through a time machine, these players are focused firmly on the present – and the future! On brand new single ‘Sweet Love’, the promising lead single from the Dawn Brothers’ second album, the band sound like a vintage van with the engine of a sports car. It couldn’t be more clear: the dusk has made way for the dawn of an entirely new era, in which the sixties and seventies are still the starting point but no longer the destination. What is? Somewhere in the middle of nowhere, where it smells of recently dropped fresh rain and a slide guitar
howling in the distance. Oddly resembling characters from a Quentin Tarantino film, the Dawn Brothers pause briefly to smoke a stub. ‘Sex, drugs and rock-‘n-roll’, that’s serious business for these Rotterdam rockers. Full throttle without fuss, seems to be the slogan.

Band: Summer Salt
Album: Happy Camper
VÖ: 21.09.2018
Label: Epitaph Records
Website: https://www.summersalt.band/

Mostly self-produced, Happy Camper was mixed by Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, The Black Angels, The Shins), who helped shape its clean and graceful sound. Throughout the album, Summer Salt match their wistful melodies with lyrics that touch on all the best things in life: baseball and major crushes, dolphins and dogs, fast cars and chocolate bars.

Hailing from Dallas, Summer Salt formed when Terry, bassist Phil Baier, and drummer Eugene Chung were still in high school. The band reunited in Austin in 2013, then gained a cult following with the home-recorded 2014 EP Driving to Hawaii. Next releasing the EPs Going Native and So Polite, Summer Salt welcomed singer/guitarist MJ Tirabassi into their lineup in 2017.

Band: Dead Letter Circus
Album: s/t
VÖ: 21.09.2018
Label: BMG / Warner
Website: www.deadlettercircus.com

Band: Joyce Manor
Album: Million Dollars To Kill Me
VÖ: 21.09.2018
Label: Epitaph Records / Indigo
Bandwebsite: www.joyce-manor.com

On September 21, Joyce Manor will release their fifth full-length effort, Million Dollars to Kill Me. The album follows 2016's critically lauded release Cody.

Today, Joyce Manor have shared a lyric video for the title track from Million Dollars to Kill Me. With its Britpop-esque hooks and driving guitar riffs, "Million Dollars to Kill Me" centers on Joyce Manor's understated-yet-poignant lyrics (e.g., "Nobody tells you it hurts to be loved").

Produced by Converge's Kurt Ballou, Million Dollars to Kill Me came to life at Ballou's own GodCity Studio in Salem, Massachusetts. During the recording process, Joyce Manor guitarist/vocalist Barry Johnson, guitarist Chase Knobbe, bassist Matt Ebert, and new drummer Pat Ware slept right upstairs in bunk beds. "Kinda felt like camp," Johnson notes. Additionally, Million Dollars to Kill Me was mixed by Andrew Scheps (Weezer, AFI, Green Day).

Band: Alkaline Trio
Album: Is This Thing Cursed?
VÖ: 31.08.2018
Label: Epitaph Records / Indigo
Website: www.facebook.com/alkalinetrio

Alkaline Trio have announced a new album Is This Thing Cursed? that is to be released on CD/digital on August 31 and on vinyl on October 19.

This is the band's 9th studio release and their first new music in 5 years.
Produced and mixed by Cameron Webb, Is This Thing Cursed? is the first Alkaline Trio album written almost entirely in the studio. It's when the songs began to come together that the band noticed the new material forming parallels with Maybe I'll Catch Fire. According to the band, Is This Thing Cursed? is a cousin or sibling to Fire. Co-lead vocalist and bassist Dan Andriano explains, "the songwriting process is almost like what it was back in the day. We would just kind of write a song, be excited about it, then move on. We wrote in that spirit in the studio. I really feel like we made a record that the old school fans are going to dig."
In June, Alkaline Trio announced a headlining US tour. Co-lead vocalist and guitarist Matt Skiba notes, "Some people thought we were done. We announced a tour and a lot of the shows are already sold out. Nobody knows that we made a new record. It's not unlike getting somebody that you care about something extra super special for their birthday and you're really excited to give it to them. It feels kind of like that."

Band: Gold Star
Album: Uppers And Downers
VÖ: 07.09.2018
Label: Autumn Tone Records / Epitaph Records
Website: www.goldstarlovesyou.com

There is a wall stacked with amps where there might be a TV or a dining table in Marlon Rabenreither's living room. The bookcases contain a library of music autobiographies and historic tomes, alongside reams of old vinyl records. The set-up could be from the '60s, '70s, or '80s, but the year is 2018 and when recording as Gold Star, the Austria-born and LA-bred Rabenreither makes music that's similarly timeless and unable to pin to one context.

Formerly of The Sister Ruby Band, Rabenreither began his solo project in 2013 and is readying the release of his third album,Uppers And Downers. "What artists do is reactionary to what they did before," he reasons. "I wanted to do the opposite of my previous LP, Big Blue, and make this record a collection of songs." Hence the title, which isn't a strictly literal reference to different mental states, or even medication, but rather to the diversity of song styles."The idea was to achieve a deeper scope, a more dynamic range: slow songs, fast songs, less genre specific, capturing all the moods."

Band: Saintseneca
Album: Pillar of Na
VÖ: 31.08.2018
Label: ANTI- / Indigo
Website: www.saintseneca.com

Saintseneca's Zac Little has been thinking a lot about memory. Not necessarily his memories, though they creep in often, too. Rather, he mulls over the idea of memory itself: its resilience, its haziness, how it slips away as we try to hang on, the way it resurfaces despite our best efforts to forget.

Memory is the common thread running throughout the Columbus folk-punk band's fourth album, Pillar of Na, arriving in late summer via ANTI- Records. Following 2015's critically lauded Such Things, the new album's name is rooted in remembrance, referencing the Genesis story of Lot's wife who looks back at a burning Sodom after God instructs her not to. She looks back, and God turns her into a pillar of salt. "Na," meanwhile, is the chemical symbol for sodium.

"I wanted to interrogate memory," Little says. "The collective and personal, to find what is true. How closely does the ghost conjured resemble the person who once lived?"

Band: Ron Gallo
Album: Stardust Birthday Party
VÖ: 05.10.2018
Label: New West Records
Website: www.rongallomusic.com/

Philly-raised artist Ron Gallo will release his sophomore album, Stardust Birthday Party on October 5th via New West. Stardust Birthday Party is the follow up to Ron Gallo's debut album, Heavy Meta, a "garage rock album whose emphasis on lurid fun doesn't sacrifice depth," said The Guardian, giving it four stars. Mojo called it a "Shrieky-voiced, Jad fair-esque solo set of mid-70s Bowery oddball punk." It was Gallo at his angriest, most disillusioned self. Amidst the typical political and social chaos in America and going through a break-up with a partner who suffered from addiction and mental illness, Gallo funneled his frustrations in to this frenetic debut. A life-altering, seismic shift in Gallo's life is what led to Stardust Birthday Party - a counterpoint to Heavy Meta and a spiritual 180. The girl he'd been seeing had taken herself to South America at the height of her addiction, found a healer and had miraculously come out on the other side in 2016. It got Gallo's interest piqued in an inward path and he began reading, searching. On a whim in early 2018, he booked a trip to California for a silent meditation retreat. Despite his initial discomfort, something significant occurred on day two that served as a singular answer to all his existential searching, and reaffirmed the foundation of this record - inner-transformation and how that impacts the outside world and your perception of it.

Band: Tilian (Dance Gavin Dance)
Album: The Skeptic
VÖ: 28.09.2018
Label/Vertrieb: Rise Records / BMG Ada Warner

TILIAN kommentiert:
"Musically and in my personal life, I kept thinking, 'I've got to find and explore some new ground'. I've always been so much more questioning than most people around me are. I never really bought into things the way 90% of the crowd does. That sentiment communicated the idea of The Skeptic to me."

"The Skeptic"-Tracklist:
01. Made of Plastic
02. Cocky
03. Gone
04. Handsome Garbage
05. Hold On
06. Blame It On Rock n Roll

Band: The Frights
Album: Hypochondriac
VÖ: 24.08.2018
Label: Epitaph / Indigo
Website: www.thefrights.com

The Frights have announced an August 24 release date for their new album, Hypochondriac. The third full-length from the San Diego surf-punk band,Hypochondriac is their Epitaph Records debut.

Today, The Frights have shared "Me And We And I"--a song whose candid lyrics, playful instrumentation, and bittersweet melody perfectly capture the tone of Hypochondriac.

"Hypochondriac is the most comfortable I've been with a record thus far," says Mikey Carnevale, vocalist/guitarist for The Frights. "I care a lot about these songs because they're embarrassing and personal."

Produced by FIDLAR frontman Zac Carper, Hypochondriac follows The Frights' 2016 album You Are Going To Hate This and marks a period of major creative growth for the band (whose lineup also includes bassist Richard Dotson, drummer Marc Finn, and guitarist Jordan Clark).

Band: Petrol Girls
Album: The Future Is Dark EP
VÖ: 14.09.2018
Label: Hassle Records
Website: https://petrolgirls.bandcamp.com/

Petrol Girls recently announced that their new EP 'The Future Is Dark' will be released via Hassle Records on 14th September - including on limited etched 12" vinyl - and now they've shared the intimate and emotive new single 'Sister', along with a music video that came into being with more than a little help from the band's extended sisterhood network. "I've been wanting for us to write a song about sisterhood for a long time, because it's these relationships that have had the biggest impact on my life and that form the heart of my feminism," says Petrol Girls' vocalist Ren Aldridge. "I've got two younger blood sisters and a few very close friends that I consider sisters, as well as our family dog Skye who passed away last summer but I loved her like a sister too. All of those relationships have taught me so much. They've guided me, taken care of me, made me laugh til I cry and nurtured me into better versions of myself. I think society often puts too much emphasis on sexual relationships when sisterhood is incredibly important and powerful. This song celebrates a relationship that can pose a real threat to capitalism and patriarchy because it challenges competition and is built on care and trust."
