THE ACES kündigen für den 12.06. ihr 2. Studioalbum "Under My Influence“ auf Red Bull Records/Sony an.
Passend dazu präsentiert die Band aus Utah ihre brandneue Single "My Phone Is Killing Me“:
THE ACES sind die Geschwister Cristal (vocals/guitar) and Alisa Ramirez (Drums), sowie ihre Jugendfreundinnen McKenna Petty (Bass) und Katie Henderson (Lead guitar).
In den letzten Monaten präsentierte das Quartett bereits zwei neue Songs, die zusammen bereits 4 Millionen Streams verzeichnen können:

“When we set out to write ‘Under My Influence’, we didn’t know exactly what would come out. All we knew was there was one rule. If you felt too vulnerable, if it scared you, then you had to keep going. Every time we wrote a song, that was our mentality. We knew we wanted to come back with an album that left everybody feeling like The Aces would never make the same thing twice. ARIEL VIEW – Neue Single "Fake Friends" / Videoclip
Die US-Indie-Band ARIEL VIEW präsentiert mit "Fake Names" eine brandneue Single. Das dazugehörige Video gibt es hier zu sehen:
"Fake Friends is a special song to us because it helped us get through a lot of tough times,” kommentiert die Band. “It helps us remember that whoever has wronged us in the past doesn’t determine our happiness. And the most important person in your life is yourself! Loving yourself is first before anyone else. If you can’t love yourself then how can you love someone else?"
Die Band aus Kalifornien besteht aus Miranda Viramontes, Nadina Parra sowie den Schwestern Harmonie und Heaven Martinez. Die Einflüsse der vier Musikerinnen sind vielseitig zwischen Surf, Garage, Emo, Psych-Rock und Pop-Punk verankert. Mit "Until My Lungs Are Cleared" erschien im vergangenen Oktober das Debüt des Quartetts auf Epitaph.

EPITAPH NEWS – COLD HART - Neues Signing + "Tammy and the T-Rex" Track / NASCAR ALOE - Neuer Song + Video "FEET!"
In der jüngsten Vergangenheit erweiterten Epitaph ihr vielfältiges Rooster mit aufstrebenden Alternativ-Rappern wie guccihighwaters, LIL LOTUS, SMRTDEATH und NASCAR ALOE.
Mit COLD HART kündigt das in LA ansässige Label die Zusammenarbeit mit einem weiteren Act der Szene an.
Neben seiner Karriere als Rapper trat COLD HART auch als Produzent und Gründungsmitglied der GothBoiClique (Wicca Phase Springs Eternal, Lil Peep, Horse Head, Døves, JPDreamthug, Lil Tracy, Mackned, YAWNS, and fish narc) in Erscheinung.
Mit "Tammy and the T-Rex" liegt gleich ein erster Track vor, bei dem COLD HART beim Songwriting und Produzieren Unterstützung von YAWNS erhielt:

“Growing up a lil' skate rat from Long Beach that was into punk and alternative music and listening to Rancid, Bad Religion, and Joe Strummer (RIP,) I felt it was only right that I went with Epitaph and followed in the footsteps of these legends,” kommentiert der Rapper.
Auch Label-Boss Brett Gurewitz erläutert die Zusammenarbeit: “The spirit of punk, of hip-hop, of rock n' roll - it's all the same elixir in different dispensers - and Coldy's music is the most potent out there. They're calling his sound the new punk and who am I to argue. I'm just thrilled to welcome this uniquely talented artist to the Epitaph family.”

Weitere Neuigkeiten gibt es von NASCAR ALOE. Der Hardcore-Rapper lässt Genre-Grenzen kunstvoll verschwimmen und formt aus der Energie des Punk, rauen Beats und einprägsamen Visuals einen Mix, der ihn zu einem der Pioniere einer neuen Welle der Rap-Musik machte. Nun teilt der Amerikaner mit "Feet!" einen neuen Track samt Video:
NASCAR ALOE, der gebürtig aus Lexington, North Carolina stammt, startete seine musikalische Karriere 2013. 2018 folgte der Umzug nach Los Angeles, wo er seine Musik zunächst in Eigenregie via SoundCloud veröffentlichte und sich eine rasant wachsende Fan-Gemeinschaft in der dortigen Musikszene erarbeitete. Im vergangenen Jahr folgte die EP "Find Me" sowie die Debüt-LP "Shithead". Kürzlich veröffentlichte Travis Barker (Blink-182) den Song "Dogshit", auf dem der Rapper mit einem Feature vertreten ist.

FAKE NAMES – Punkrock-Supergroup veröffentlicht heute Debütalbum
Die Punkrock-Supergroup FAKE NAMES, bestehend aus Brian Baker (MINOR THREAT, DAG NASTY, BAD RELIGION), Michael Hampton (S.O.A., EMBRACE, ONE LAST WISH), Dennis Lyxzén (REFUSED, INTERNATIONAL NOISE CONSPIRACY, INVSN) und Johnny Temple (GIRLS AGAINST BOYS, SOULSIDE, veröffentlicht heute ihr selbstbetiteltes Debütalbum via Epitaph:
FAKE NAMES entstanden 2016 in einer Jam-Session Brian Bakers und Michael Hamptons, die bereits seit der ersten Klasse miteinander befreundet sind. Darauf rekrutieren die beiden Gitarristen Johnny Temple als Bassisten. Baker und Temple trafen auf dem Riot Fest in Chicago REFUSED-Frontmann Dennis Lyxzén, der sich spontan bereit erklärte, die Vocals zu dem Projekt beizusteuern. In den darauffolgenden Monaten erschuf man einen musikalischen Mix, der an die frühen Tage des UK-Punks und Power Pop erinnert, aber auch diverse Einflüsse aus den weiteren Bands des Quartetts spüren lässt.

FLAWES – Neue EP "Lowlights" am 13.05. auf Red Bull Records / Video zu "Look No Further"
Anfang des Jahres veröffentlichten die UK-Durchstarter FLAWES ihr Debütalbum "Highlights" via Red Bull Records. Nun kündigt das Trio eine neue EP mit dem Titel "Lowlights" für den 13. Mai an. Diese enthält akustische Neuinterpretationen von vier Album-Tracks.
Mit "Look No Further" liegt gleich ein erster Vorgeschmack samt Video vor:

“‘Lowlights’ is a selection of songs from our debut album that have been stripped right down to their bare bones. We love to create a huge wall of sound when playing live, so to mix things up we decided to challenge ourselves and take the complete opposite approach,” erläutert die Band. “The songs are so exposed, there’s almost nowhere to hide. ‘Don’t Count Me Out’ in particular is literally just a piano and vocal, taking the song right back to where it started life.”
Die Briten absolvierten bereits Shows mit Acts wie AJR, Ella Eyre, Maximo Park, Francis and the lights, Chloe Howl und Safia. Aktuell arbeitet die Band an neuen Songs, die noch dieses Jahr veröffentlicht werden sollen.

CHRISTIAN LEE HUTSON – Neue Single "Get The Old Band Back Together", featuring CONOR OBERST und PHOEBE BRIDGERS
Am 29.05. erscheint BEGINNERS, das neue von Phoebe Bridgers produzierte Album des US-Songwriters CHRISTIAN LEE HUTSON auf Anti Records. Ein sehr feingliedrig gesponnenes Werk in der Schnittmenge Folk und Indie-Pop. Phoebe Bridgers, die den Songs einen sehr luftigen aber auch fragil-warmen Sound verpasste ist auch selber als Gastmusikerin auf dem Album vertreten.
GET THE OLD BAND BACK TOGETHER ist bereits die zweite Single und featured unter anderen Conor Oberst.

JESSE MALIN – Neue Single “Backstabbers”
Jesse Malin hat im August 2019 mit dem von Lucinda Williams produzierten SUNSET KIDS ein ganz hervorragendes Americana-Rock -Folk-Album veröffentlicht und peilt nun an mit “LUST FOR LOVE“ (Wicked Cool Records) bereits Anfang 2021 ein neues Album nachzulegen.
Die erste Single daraus heißt BACKSTABBERS und ist ab sofort erhältlich:
On April 24, 2020 ‘Backstabbers’ and the B-side ’Crawling Back to You’ (Tom Petty) will be released digitally and as a limited 7” on Little Steven’s Wicked Cool Records.
‘Backstabbers’ is the first song from Jesse’s upcoming new album ‘Lust for Love’, planned for early 2021. Recorded during the ’Sunset’ Kids’ session, the song is produced by Lucinda Williams and Tom Overby.
Of the song Malin says: “The story is pretty much coming of age, getting out of your small town, and coming into the city searching for something new.”
Named “one of the best streamed performances for the stay-at-home-era” by Rolling Stone, Malin’s Saturday livestream series 'The Fine Art of Self Distancing' will continue April 25 at 8:00pm GMT - 9:00pm CET.
Jesse’s European spring tour with Brian Fallon has been rescheduled for February 2021, and Glastonbury is set for 2021.

JONNY PIERCE, das Mastermind hinter THE DRUMS, bleibt in der Corona-Krise nicht untätig und präsentiert mit "Take Yer Meds (A Guided Meditation)" einen 14-minütigen Meditations-Clip:

"I feel a lot of us, myself included, have seen this COVID-19 bullshit as a sort of awakening, a sacred stillness that offers an opening for deep spiritual shifts to occur," erklärt Pierce. "I’ve been spending a lot of time examining and honoring all the things that make me human and I’ve been wanting to offer something helpful during this precarious time we are all in. After a lot of emotional back and forth, I decided that I would make an unconventional guided mediation with some musical accompaniment. I’m really big on traditional meditation where you can let thoughts drift in and out and be transient, but I wanted to sort of turn the whole thing inside-out (or outside-in) and do a mediation where we are actually focusing on specific themes."
Das letzte Studioalbum erschien im Frühjahr 2019 via ANTI- unter dem Titel "Brutalism", auf dem sich Pierce u.a. mit einer schmerzhaften Trennung und seinen inneren Dämonen auseinandersetzte.

PHOXJAW – Neuer Song + Video "Triple AAA" / Debütalbum "Royal Swan" am 03.07. auf Hassle Records
PHOXJAW veröffentlichen mit "Triple AAA" einen brandneuen Track aus ihrem Debütalbum "Royal Swan", das am 3. Juli auf Hassle Records erscheinen wird. Da der geplante Videodreh aufgrund des Coronavirus ausfiel, nahmen die Briten die Kamera selbst in die Hand. Das unterhaltsame Ergebnis gibt es hier zu sehen:
Sänger und Bassist Danny Garland kommentiert:
"Triple AAA is a fast-paced, face punching, punk rock stonker all tied up in a Phoxjaw rope. It's a song about breaking free from the shackles of insanity and thinking about the world around yourself. Reach for the sun..."
Zuvor teilte das Quartett bereits den Song "Half House" (Video). "Royal Swan" entstand in fast vollständiger Eigenproduktion und markiert erneut den vielseitigen musikalischen Ansatz, den PHOXJAW vorweisen. Bei den Aufnahmen im walisischen Devil’s Bridge Cottage wurden sämtliche Instrumente getrennt voneinander aufgenommen. Die Gitarrenspuren wurden u.a. in einem Wäscheschrank eingespielt.
Das Album folgt auf die EPs "Goodbye Dinosaur..." und "A Playground For Sad Adults", die die Band bereits auf Touren mit BLACK PEAKS, PAGAN und LOATHE live präsentierte.

Die Senkrechtstarter PRESS CLUB präsentieren ihren kürzlich veröffentlichten Track "Insecurities" im Rahmen der Staycation Sessions. Staycation entspringt der gemeinsamen Idee Nick Manuels (Videograf) und Greg Rietwyks, seines Zeichens Gitarrist und Produzent der Band.

"The video was a true quarantine experiment. I'm no movie maker so I had to get inventive. I shot it in my apartment with my phone and edited on iMovie. It required a real DIY approach to achieving the effects that I wanted. The song is about playing the long game and keeping your head down to do the work that is important to you. It's easy to be disillusioned with how much noise there is in the digital void but one shouldn't let that dilute the value of the work that they do.”

THE SUBWAYS – “Young For Eternity“ & “All Or Nothing“ Reissues erscheinen heute via BMG
Die schon für Ende März angekündigten Reissues der beiden THE SUBWAYS-Klassiker "Young for Eternity" & "All or Nothing“ erscheinen heute auf CD & Vinyl.
Beide Alben werden als farbige, limitierte 12" veröffentlicht und enthalten neben einem signierten Poster auch bisher unveröffentlichtes Studiomaterial. Neben der Vinyl-Variante erscheinen die Alben auch als Double Extended CDs, die jeweils Bonus-Tracks, zahlreiche B-Seiten, Live-Aufnahmen und weitere Besonderheiten beinhalten.
THE SUBWAYS blicken auf eine ereignisreiche Karriere zurück. Das Trio absolvierte zahlreiche Festivalauftritte, erreichte die TOP 20 der Charts und teilte bereits die Bühnen mit Acts wie OASIS, FOO FIGHTERS und ACDC.

Die Punk/HC-Band WESTERN ADDICTION teilt ein Musikvideo zu dem Song “They Burned Our Paintings“:
Der Song entstammt dem Album “Frail Bray“, das nächsten Freitag auf Fat Wreck erscheinen wird. Produziert wurde das Album erstmals von Jack Shirley (DEAFHEAVEN, JEFF ROSENSTOCK, GOUGE AWAY etc.) und als musikalische Gäste sind Darius Koski ( SWINGIN’ UTTERS) und Brenna Red ( THE LAST GANG) vertreten.
Zuvor veröffentlichte die Band bereits den Song “Lurchers“.
