THE ACES lassen sich von der aktuellen Situation nicht unterkriegen und drehten das Video ihrer neuen Single "My Phone Is Trying To Kill Me“ kurzerhand in Eigenregie!
Die Band kommentiert:
"Angesichts der derzeitigen Situation sind wir nicht in der Lage unsere Musikvideos wie geplant zu drehen, aber wollten uns trotz allen Widrigkeiten nicht davon abhalten lassen. Also schnappten wir unsere Telefone und Kameras um die Angelegenheit selbst in die Hand zu nehmen. Wir hatten eine Menge Spass und wünschen euch genauso viel Freude beim Anschauen, wie wir beim Drehen hatten.“
"My Phone Is Trying To Kill Me“ wurde in Zusammenarbeit mit den Produzenten Justin Tranter (Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande) und Zach Skelton (Jonas Brothers, Shawn Mendes) aufgenommen.

Anders als noch beim Debüt (2018), geht die Band auf dem am 12.06. erscheinenden Album “Under My Influence" erstmals textlich offen mit der Homosexualität der Sängerin Cristal und Schlagzeugerin Alisa um. Die Schwestern wuchsen in Provo auf, einer religiösen Stadt im "Mormonen US-Bundestaat“ Utah, die alternative Sexualitäten kaum tolerierte. BAD COP / BAD COP – Neuer Song "Pursuit of Liberty" / Album "The Ride" am 19.06. auf Fat Wreck
BAD COP / BAD COP präsentieren mit "Pursuit of Liberty" einen brandneuen Song aus ihrem Album "The Ride", das am 19. Juni via Fat Wreck erscheinen wird. Der Track, der von Bassistin Linh Le geschrieben wurde, kann hier gestreamt werden:
Linh kommentiert den Song wie folgt:
"My family fled Saigon in 1975. They were given a chance. So, why isn't the same thing still happening for everyone fleeing their danger? How have we gone from 'The Land of the Free' to 'Build that Wall?' The song isn’t (just) about my family. I wrote this song to bring awareness to a completely disgraceful treatment of refugees. My family's part in the song is just my way of showing how personal it is to me. But the message is about ALL REFUGEE"
Zuvor erschien mit "Simple Girl" ein weiterer Vorbote. "The Ride" ist das erste Album der Band seit "Warriors" aus dem Jahr 2017 und wurde von Johnny Carry und Fat Mike (NOFX) produziert. Im Herbst holt das Quartett die kürzlich abgebrochene EU-Tour nach. Bisher erworbene Tickets bleiben gültig.

BAD SUNS – Neuer Song “Unstable“
Die US-Indie-Rocker BAD SUNS veröffentlichen mit “Unstable” einen neuen Track.
“’Unstable’ came to be, following a stormy night spent in a cabin on the east coast, where I was writing songs for the Mystic Truth album,” erklärt Sänger Christo Bowman. “Walking through the neighborhoods of Bridgehampton the next day, as the fog rolled in from the ocean, I got the sense that this would be the perfect locale for a murder mystery. I felt inspired to write a song from the perspective of a psychopath, so that’s exactly what I did.”
Der Song stammt aus der Session zu dem aktuellen Album ”Mystic Truth“, welches von Dave Sardy (Oasis, The Black Angels) produziert wurde und letztes Jahr über Epitaph erschien. Vor wenigen Wochen präsentierte die Bands zudem den Song “I’m Not Having Any Fun“.

CROWN THE EMPIRE veröffentlichen ein Musikvideo zu dem Song "BLURRY (Out of Place)".

Der Song entstammt dem aktuellen Studioalbum "Sudden Sky" (Rise Records) und wurde weltweit bereits mehr als 9 Millionen Mal gestreamt.
Neben dem neuen Musikvideo präsentiert die Band ein weiteres Highlight. Mit Hilfe der App JADU ist es Fans ab sofort möglich, gemeinsam mit Sänger Andy Leo in Hologram-Form zu performen. Nutzer können ihre Umgebung scannen, das Hologramm in ihrer Umgebung platzieren und so mit ihrem Lieblingskünstler ein Video aufnehmen. Das Resultat kann über die App gespeichert werden und auf TikTok, Instagram oder einer anderen Social-Media-Plattform geteilt werden. JADU kann HIER geladen werden.

DERADOORIAN – Neuer Track + animiertes Video "It Was Me" / Album "Find The Sun“ am 18.09. auf Anti-
"Find The Sun", das neue Album von ANGEL DERADOORIAN, sollte ursprünglich am 22. Mai beim US-Label ANTI- erscheinen. Aufgrund des Coronavirus wurde das Release-Datum auf den 18. September verschoben. In der Zwischenzeit präsentiert die amerikanische Sängerin ihren neuen Song "It Was Me" inklusive animiertem Musikvideo:
"I thought my mind would grow calmer/ like a pond in the morning rise / but as the years went longer / the wisdom was but a disguise", singt DERADOORIAN. Die immerwechselnden schwarz-weißen Bilder des Videos stellen die Verarbeitung der Ängste und Sorgen der Musikerin dar und betten sich damit in das Hauptthema des Albums ein, nämlich der Selbsterforschung.
Zuvor erschienen mit "Monk's Robes" (Video) und "Saturnine Night" (Video) zwei weitere Tracks aus "Find The Sun".
Die insgesamt zehn Songs des Albums entstanden während eines Sommers am Strand der Rockaways und fanden dort ein erstes Profil. Gemeinsam mit ihrem Freund und Percussionist Samer Ghadry und mit dessen Kollegen Dave Harrington reiste DERADOORIAN durch das gesamte Land nach Kalifornien, um die Tracks in einem analogen Studio einzuspielen.
"Find The Sun" ist ein Ausdruck des nichtlinearen Wesens der Zeit und weist darauf hin, dass es nie eine aktuelle Version des Ichs gibt. Vielmehr dient das Album dazu, dass der Hörer in der Lage sein soll, an den Ort, an dem Körper und Seele verschmelzen, zurückzukehren. In dem Sinne ist "Find The Sun" eine Platte, die man hören, aber auch fühlen sollte. DERADOORIAN sagt dazu: "I think it would be cool if people lay on the floor to listen to it, and let it go through their bodies. Being in that kind of space of awareness making it, I hope it evokes a physical reaction for people...that has so much to do with frequencies, vibrational relationships in sound."

GREER – präsentieren neuen Track "Aeroplane" via Epitaph
Die Alternative-Rocker GREER verkündeten am Anfang des Jahres die Zusammenarbeit mit Epitaph.
Nun folgt mit "Aeroplane" das erste musikalische Material auf dem neuen Label. Passend dazu liegt ein Musikvideo vor:
GREER formierten sich im November 2018 und absolvierten ihre erste offizielle Show im legendären DIY-Club The Smell. Darauf folgten die beiden Singles "Song For Me" und "Bittersweet", die bereits weltweit 10 Millionen Streams erzielten.
Aufgrund der aktuellen Lage war die Band gezwungen, ihre anstehenden Live-Shows abzusagen. Stattdessen startete das Quintett eine neue YouTube-Serie unter dem Titel "Greercast". Ein Gast war u.a. der Stranger Things-Star Finn Wolfhard.

Der kanadische Musiker AIDAN KNIGHT kündigt für den 28.08. seinen neuen Longplayer auf Full Time Hobby an!
Das selbstbetitelte Album ist bereits sein viertes Werk und die erste Veröffentlichung seit seinem überaus erfolgreichen Vorgänger “EACH OTHER“ von 2016.
Stilistisch darf man ihn - bleibt man seiner Heimat Kanada treu - irgendwo in der Ecke Andy Shauf, John Southworth, Dan Mangan ansiedeln. Musik also, die zwischen den Polen Indie Rock - Folk - Singer Songwriter pendelt und von den meist autobiographischen Texten geformt wird.

LIL LOTUS – veröffentlicht EP-Reihe auf Epitaph / Vol. 1 ab sofort verfügbar / Lyric-Video
Der Emo-Rapper LIL LOTUS kündigt die EP-Reihe "All My Little Scars" via Epitaph an!
Vol. 1., der erste von drei Teilen, ist ab sofort verfügbar und beinhaltet neben den zuvor präsentierten Singles "I Don’t Even Like U" und "Never Felt Better" die brandneuen Tracks "Last One" und "Rigor Mortis". Zu Letzterem liegt zudem ein Lyric-Video vor:
"All My Little Scars Vol. 1." markiert die erste zusammenhängende Veröffentlichung des Künstlers seit der bahnbrechenden EP "Body Bag" aus dem Jahr 2017, auf der u.a. die Mitglieder der GothBoiClique COLD HART und NEDARB mit Features vertreten sind.
Mit Pop-Punk-Melodien, Rap-Beats und bekenntnishaften Worten wurde LIL LOTUS zu einem der Pioniere der alternativen Rap-Szene. Ende 2019 erfolgte das Signing mit Epitaph, das dessen Gründer Brett Gurewitz folgendermaßen kommentierte:
“Hip-hop and punk were born around the same time and I’ve been a fan of both genres since the 80s. The music of Lil Lotus brings these beloved countercultures together in an authentic way.”

MAKE THEM SUFFER präsentieren mit "Soul Decay" einen weiteren Vorboten aus dem kommenden Studioalbum "How To Survive A Funeral", das am 24. Juli auf Rise Records erscheinen wird:
"'Soul Decay' is about watching someone you know fall back into the same bad habits over and over, unaware that they themselves are the root of their own problems," sagt Sänger Sean Harmanis. "I believe this is a message we all need to hear sometimes. Being able to accept responsibility for our own mistakes keeps us humble."
Bereits zuvor veröffentlichte das Quintett die Songs "Erase Me" (Video) und "Drown With Me" (Stream).
Für die Aufnahme rekrutierten die Australier den Produzenten Drew Fulk (WZRDBLD), der bereits mit Acts wie MOTIONLESS IN WHITE, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, YELAWOLF oder auch LIL’ WAYNE zusammenarbeitete.

Erst kürzlich kündigten REMO DRIVE an, ihr drittes selbstproduziertes Studioalbum "A Portrait Of An Ugly Man" am 26. Juni auf Epitaph zu veröffentlichen.
Mit "Ode to Joy 2" präsentiert das Duo einen weiteren Vorgeschmack samt Videoclip:
REMO DRIVE besteht aus den Brüdern Stephen (Bass) und Erik Paulson (Gitarre, Vocals). Den neusten Track kommentiert Erik:
“The lyrics were inspired by the excess I perceived around me as I transitioned from being a college student into touring full time. Most people who’ve done either can confirm that many social interactions are built around having a drink or smoking weed. Once the honeymoon period of exploration was over for me, I became frustrated with the omnipresence of drugs and alcohol and wanted to write about it... Oh what fun it is laughing at nothing, by this age we all have it down.. When I wrote the final version of the lyrics, I tried to connect with how I think when I’m drunk. I always feel as though I’m loving and hating every second of it. This song captures that same ambivalence.”
Zuvor erschien bereits die Lead-Single "Star Worship" (Video). Mit ihrem Debütalbum "Greatest Hits" startete die Band 2017 mit einem Knall in die US-Emo-Szene. Zu ihren Vorbildern zählen die beiden Künstler u.a. THE KILLERS aber auch Acts wie BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN.

STAKE veröffentlichen ein brandneues Musikvideo zu ihrem Track "Everybody Knows":

‘Everybody Knows’ is a song about accelerationism: to accelerate a certain process in order to gain change. It's a term normally used in political and social theories - the belief that this will hasten it's self-destructive tendencies and ultimately lead to its collapse. We as a band lent this term to understand and handle our own psychological chaos and music. It's the kind of song that we'll not be able to write twice; it is one of our beloved misfits that we love to play live at the end of our sets. We are very psyched to put this track online now since we'll not be able to play it live for a while..."
Der Song entstammt der Debüt-EP "Catatonic Dreams", dessen Vinyl-Variante ab sofort erneut via Hassle Records erhältlich ist. Zusätzlich ist die EP erstmals digital verfügbar. Das aktuelle Album "Critical Method" erschien im November letzten Jahres.

THE USED – Video zu "The Lighthouse" (feat MARK HOPPUS - BLINK-182)
Vergangenen Monat haben THE USED ihre Fans aufgerufen, als Teil eines ganz besonderen Projekts Videos von ihren „Frontkämpfern" einzureichen. "Jeden Tag wachen Sie auf und verlassen ihre Liebsten, um für unsere Sicherheit zu kämpfen. Wir wollen sie in unserem neuen Musikvideo vorstellen.“
Nun präsentiert die Band anhand des Videos zu "The Lighthouse (feat: Mark Hoppus)“ das Ergebnis, in dem Krankenschwestern, Ärzte, Ersthelfer, Tankwarte, Verkäufer, Lieferanten etc., sowie Mitglieder von The Used und Mark Hoppus mit ihren Familien zu sehen sind.
Es ist eine wunderschöne Hommage an die Menschen, die unermüdlich daran arbeiten, uns alle in diesen ungewöhnlichen Zeiten zu schützen.
