HAND HABITS – neues Album “FUN HOUSE“ - 22.10.2021 - erste Single AQUAMARINE online - Saddle Creek Records / Rough Trade

Hand Habits - by Jacob Boll

Hand Habits, das Projekt der in Los Angeles lebenden Musikerin Meg Duffy (they/them), kündigt ihr neues Album Fun House mit einem von V Haddad
inszenierten Video zur Leadsingle 'Aquamarine' an.

'AQUAMARINE' Video

Praise for Hand Habits:

"placeholder is an impressive piece of craftsmanship, not only in its lyrics but in its sparkling production and masterly sense of melody-for such wistful songs, they have an uncanny ability to get stuck in your head."- The New Yorker

"These 12 songs have a resonance that's deep and wide, examining intimate/romantic connections and their power to wound and confuse." - Uncut

"An album full of songs that showcase Duffy's gifts front and center... Peaceful, calming, with a hint of something else underneath the surface." - Rolling Stone

"Songs feel untethered then crystallise in Sharon Van Etten-levels of devastation." - MOJO

"Meg Duffy is your favorite indie rocker's favorite guitarist... Duffy plumbs new depths of intimacy when it comes to the topics of anxiety, loss, and forgiveness." - Pitchfork

"Hand Habits are in a lane of their own." - Q

"Duffy pays scrupulous attention to detail in songs that function like intricate dioramas... On placeholder, the singer contemplates the fragility of human relationships and the hard-to-stomach reality that many of the people, experiences and places we've loved are only stepping stones on a journey of self-discovery." - NPR

"Remarkable and inquisitive...recalls the piercing lucidity of Angel Olsen, the confidence of Sharon Van Etten." - Stereogum

"Unwavering honesty comes through loud and clear on 'placeholder', transported into hearts and minds via soft, unusual vocal turns reminiscent of Elliott Smith." - DIY

"placeholder could be one of 2019's big indie breakthroughs." - Music Week

"Lulling, frank revelations on the complexities of desire." - The FADER

"placeholder is full of the kind of morbid introspections one might expect to find as a result of close proximity to natural disaster. Space for the listener to consider destruction, rebirth, and mortality are effortlessly carved out with graceful instrumentation and instinctual songcraft." - Loud and Quiet

"It may be too soon to start pondering year-end lists at this point in time, but you should definitely consider about holding a place for Hand Habits." - The Line of Best Fit

"placeholder is more atmospheric than show-offy, in which Duffy's tasteful, restrained playing supports the delicate melodies and reflective lyrics. "  - UPROXX

"A fearlessly vulnerable and gorgeous collection." - The 405

"A vessel of complex, ever-evolving emotion, warm vocals and dexterous guitar shrieks." - Paste

"Achingly beautiful and poignant...profoundly articulated and relatable." - Gorilla vs Bear
